1. Children under 16 years of age will be issued with passports valid for five years. Young persons between 16 to 18 years will be issued
with passports valid for ten years. The parents/guardians of minors should give their consent at Section (4 A) in presence of a Police
Officer/Officer of Passport and Immigration Office. The application form should be submitted by one of his/her parents/his/her guardian.

2. Photo specification: Person in whose name passport is to be issued to submit two identical copies of photograph of less than six months. The size of
these photographs must be between 35mm and 40mm in width and between 45mm and 50mm in height and taken against a light background. The
face length from Chin to Crown of head shall be between 25mm and 35mm (0.98 in and 1.38 in). The photographs should be matt and taken full face,
without hat and eyes wide open. They should be clear and taken in a neutral expression with mouth closed. If applicant/minor wears glasses, the eyes
should be visible.
3. A lost passport should be reported at the Police Station/Mauritian Embassy/Consulate nearest the place of loss and a police report should be
obtained when submitting application for a new passport. The police report should be either in English/French language. In case the passport
has been recovered, same has to be returned to the Passport and Immigration Office or to the nearest Mauritian Embassy/Consulate and must
not be used for any travel.
4. The identity and address of the person in whose name passport is to be issued must be certified by the Police of the locality where he/she
resides, before the application form is submitted. (see Section 5).
5. Passport will, as far as possible, be issued within four working days after payment.

(c) When applicable, applications to be accompanied by National Identity Card (with photocopies) of guarantor(s) together
