It was the autumn of 2011 when I first appeared on stage as an actor.

My
heart was racing while I was waiting for my part. I was dressed in a bright blue
costume (lent by the local theatre) which was 2 times bigger than me and I was
really nervous, but I instantly felt better as I stepped on the stage of the "George
Bacovia" theatre in Bacau, my hometown. I did so because I was able to feel the
energy, the emotions, the laughs of the almost 300 people watching me perform. In
that moment, I knew I had to continue to fathom my knowledge in this field. Having
been a part of my high-school's drama club since September 2011, I continued to
get involved in many drama-related activities, both on and off the stage.
Throughout the three and a half years I've acted in four plays and I have even codirected one, having been involved in the production of two more.
This field slowly became one my two biggest passions. I started going to see
plays regularly, I was part of the teenage jury in Gala Star, a one-man show contest
held in Bacau, in the 2012 and 2014 editions and I became the coordinator of my
high-school drama club, so I had to read a lot on this topic and find or come up with
hundreds of new workshops for the weekly meetings, thus helping me develop new
skills and improve my social ones, my public-speaking and so on. But I was truly
enlightened only when a friend of mine who was studying Acting came to visit us at
the drama club meetings. As I was in charge with directing the following play, I
chose him for the lead role, thing which has proven itself to be the right decision,
as it has enabled me to learn a lot of the technical side of acting, like the correct
way of breathing, talking, the manner of working in order to make a character as
human and realistic as possible. This has been an outstanding experience, helping
me become a better performer and a better man.
Another thing that positively influenced me and my other big passion is
competitive ballroom dancing. I've been practicing dancesport (as it is also called)
for five years and a half now, regularly participating in competitions and even
winning several trophies and medals. But more than that, i believe it has made a
significant change in my posture, my physical skills and, maybe the most important,
in my attitude towards being on a stage and working with people.
Taking part in all these plays and other extra-curricular activities that required
aptitudes which I now possessed made me stand out from the others. As a
consequence, I was chosen to present three galas, one of which had around 1400
spectators. Moreover, I participated in three European Youth Parliament sessions
(the Tomis Forum 2013, the Regional Selection Session 2013 and the National
Selection Session 2014), after which I received positive feedback from each of my
Chairpersons, not only due to my understanding of the diverse topics and my
fluency in speaking English, but also due to my ability to deliver my speeches in a
manner that was adequate to the nature of the event.
Thus, I believe that this subject matches my interests and my short and longtime aspirations and, in my opinion, would help me pursue the carreer I have

dreamt of. Moreover, I think that the UK is the best place to gather the knowledge
that is relevant to my future profession, as it is a well-developed country, especially
culturally, being, as far as I am concerned, an ideal place to study and work.
