The Truth Behind Fever

Every individual occasionally suffers from fever problems. As a matter of fact, it sometimes
happens every time they are exposed to certain infection, other disease causing bacteria or even
to stress. As you observe, people acquire fever because of many modifiable risk factors that can
trigger your bodys immune response. In this article you will know what are these risk factors
that triggers a fever reaction and how can it be managed. To give you a clear picture of how your
body develops fever is that, once the bacteria enters into the body, your immune system will
immediately react to these invaders. Definitely, your immune system, which primary
responsibility is to protect your body from diseases, will send substances such as neutrophils to
combat the invaders. Eventually, the neutrophils will engulf and digest the injured invaders and
releases another substance called pyrogens. When you talk about pyrogens, this is the main
substance that will cause fever.
Furthermore, these pyrogens will reset particular neurons in the hypothalamus of the brain to
maintain a higher body temperature. That it is clinically manifested as fever. Additionally, due to
high body temperature, it sometimes associated as a catalyst to your bodys chemical reactions
indicating that your immune response is more effective. Although, there are some cases that
fever is no ordinary reaction that the body is experiencing. Sometimes, it can be an early sign of
progressing infection. Like for instance, if you are suffering from recurrent fever it only indicates
that you have an ongoing bacterial or viral infection. Aside from that, it can also be an indication
of another underlying disease condition. That is why, when you have recurrent high grade fever,
immediately seek help of a medical profession so that it can be treated promptly.
What can you do if you have a fever? Usually, when an individual suffering from high grade
fever it can manage in two ways. Take note! Do not rely on medication directly; instead do your
own actions to minimize your fever. The first thing you will do is do this simple technique- tepid
sponge bath. You know, tepid sponge bath is proven effective among fever problems. To
perform this procedure, you need to have a face towel soak in warm to cold water then directly
apply it to the body of person having fever. Occasionally, apply soak towel onto the forehead
then wipe the whole body followed by applying dry cloth. This is the simplest way of controlling
the high temperature and proven to be effective. Once you have performed the tepid sponge bath,
eventually the temperature subsides. Continuously monitor the temperature until it completely
vanished. However, if it does not control by simple tepid sponge bath you can take medications
such as acetaminophen like Paracetamol. This drugs action will directly act on the
thermoregulatory cells in your hypothalamus causing vasodilatation and sweating. Afterwards,
due to vasodilatation the heat will be release out from your body lowers fever.
Therefore, whether it is simple fever or recurrent fever, please dont take for granted because it
may progress to another problems in the long run. You must act on it immediately.
