It Is In You, Too
Richard, I remember the reason why you look so familiar to me. I know it was you.
It was you! It was you! said Ryan, with laughter and tears on his face.
Yes, it is without the word me, Richard suddenly teleported to Ryan, and threw
him off the cliff. While Ryan was falling, he thought about how the world became like this,
and he thought about why he was so senseless not recognizing whom Richard was.
As he was falling, he remembered that in 3014, on Earth, there were many civilized
countries. They all had nuclear bombs. One day, the leader of one country went crazy and
started to bomb everywhere. The rest of the world fought back against it. They began to
bomb each other using the nuclear bombs. Less then 10 million people survived from the
bombing. Because of the radiation, some people were changed and had deformity. Some even
got supernatural powers from the radiation. There was one man whose name was Henry. He
was a cute little boy before. After the radiation, he was not cute at all and became a monster.
From the radiation, he got some special abilities and became super strong. He was able to
clear out the radiation so that he eventually created a new country called the Cuteness
Republic.
Henry was the King. He heard about a rumor that the more children an adult eat, the
cuter he would become. Because of that, he made a curse that every adult needed to eat
children yearly to survive; otherwise, he or she would suffer in pain forever. People needed to
give Henry a boy and a girl every month to eat. At first, people would not eat any kids. They
still had humanity and kept themselves civilized. They thought they would rather suffer to
death than to eat a kid. However, when their pain escalated, they could not control themselves
any more and began to eat kids. But no one would ever hurt his or her own children. They
started to kill each other and take others kids. Still, most of the civilians were trying to unite

and fight against the evil monster, Henry. There were people who wanted to fight against
Henry, but no one ever saw these people again.
When people saw the monster, they did not dare to fight against him directly. After the
radiation, Henry became very powerful. He could control everything. He could even let the
time stop. He almost killed whoever saw his real appearance. However, he did keep a few in
order to tell others about how frightening he was.
There was a small village in the Cuteness Republic. Since the village was small,
everyone knew each other. In order to survive, they had to eat children. They found out that
not every single adult had to eat a child in order not to die. They just had to eat some
childrens flesh. So every year, they would have a draw, to decide which family should
sacrifice one of their children. The whole village shared a child, and that was the best for
what they could do. In the village, there was a boy named Ryan. He was told that he was sent
to this village alone when he was very young. Ryan barely had memory about his family.
What he could remember was that he once had a brother. Each time, when Ryan was trying to
recall his childhood, he would have a headache. Soon, Ryan gave up. His dream was to save
the world from the evil Henry. He wanted to help, but he was too weak to do that. Ryan still
remembered the time when everyone stayed in this beautiful and peaceful country, where
there was no monster.
One day, a boy named Richard came to the village. At the first glance, Ryan thought
he looked familiar, but he did not remember when did he meet Richard. He considered this as
a special feeling between outsiders. Richard seemed to have lots of knowledge. He told others
that his family once was rich, and then they lost everything. Richard soon became good
friends for the kids in the village. Nevertheless, Ryan noticed that the way Richard looked at
the kids was very strange. Ryan thought it was only his illusion.
One day, when Ryan was collecting fruits from trees, he saw some familiar faces

sitting together and talking sneakily. He was curious and wanted to know what happened
there, so he walked closer and closer. Unfortunately, Ryan accidently kicked a rock.
"Who is there," one villager said cautiously.
"Stand out and let us see your face," another villager shouted.
"It is me," Ryan stood out and murmured shyly, "I just want to know what happens."
When these people saw Ryan, they were relieved. All of a sudden, Richard seemed to
have an idea and started to murmur again.
"Do you think he can be the one to revenge for our eaten kids? Richard said, "This
boy always says that his dream is to save the world. I think he will be very glad to do that.
Come here, Ryan, said Richard, Listen, this year, its our turn to give one child to
the monster, Henry. Do you want to be the one? We can let you have lots of hypnotics so that
when you are eaten, we can kill the monster while he is sleeping.
After Richard said this, everyone was shocked by Richards word. They saw him as if
it was the first time they met him.
To everyones surprise, Ryan agreed. It is my dream to kill the monster. I am too
weak to kill him. Im glad to be the sacrifice as long as you can kill him.
After having the pills, Ryan fell asleep. When he woke up, he was in a dark cave.
Henry was beside him. Not until this moment was Ryan very scared. He figured out that he
would be eaten, when he was awake. Please, make me faint before you eat me, said Ryan.
The only thing he hoped was that the hypnotics he had still had effects so he would not die
meaninglessly.
I will not eat you, said the monster, I feel so lonely. I want to talk to you about
myself. I was a very cute boy when I was young. Then, the world went crazy. Tons of nuclear
bombs exploded on this planet, and I became what you can see now. Someone tells me that if
I eat kids, I would be cuter. It does not work out. However, scary things happen. I could not

control myself. Something inside me tells me that if I do not eat more than one boy and one
girl once a month, I will die. I do not want to die, so I follow the sound in my heart. Now Im
tired of all those. I am a human too. Look at what I have done. Im not brave enough to
commit suicide. Since I killed so many people early years, no one is brave enough to come
and kill me. Please kill me. Heres a knife.
Ryan was totally shocked. He could not foresee things happening like this.
Considering about what Henry had done, he then stabbed Henry with a knife.
Thank you, said Henry weakly. He turned his head, shouting to the entrance of the
cave, Its in you, too.
Henry continued whispering to Ryan, Be careful of your friend outside. He
BANG. Henry had a headshot. Henrys body became a photosphere, and came to
the entrance.
So glad to see you alive, said Richard, coming from the entrance.
Are you ok? said Ryan, I see the photosphere coming to you. Did you get hurt?
No, instead, I inherit Henrys power, said Richard.
On their way back, Ryan was thinking about what Henry had told him. He could not
figure out what that meant, so he gave up.
The whole world celebrated Henrys death. The whole world united as a nation.
People elected Richard as the King for the world. On the ceremony, seeing Richard dressed in
fancy clothes, all those memories came to Ryans mind. When he was young, some strangers
came to his house, killed his parents, and took his brother. He was playing hide and seek, so
he hid under the bed. He was the only survivor. He remembered the leader of those strangers
looked very similar to Richard, except that Richard was much younger. Behind Richard, there
was a boy. He also remembered hearing that the Richards, the world famous family that was
rich and provided kids for their child, had been killed by angry people a few years ago.

Everyone except the son, died. For that, the village had a little celebration. He remembered
everything now.

While Ryan was falling, he heard Richard saying, Give me twenty children. It has
been years since the last time I ate kids. Go or die.
Ah! One soldier screamed.
I will go for you, my majesty. Another soldier said.
Ahhhhhh!!!!!! Ryan woke up, lying on his bed. Its just a nightmare. Such a
strange dream.
Outside was noisy. Ryan heard lots of people talking and went outside. The chief of
the village was showing everyone the newcomer. Hey, Ryan. Here you are. This is Richard.
He is also from outside. Ryan was shocked when he saw Ryan and could not think.
So I can foresee the future? Is this the power I get from radiation? I can have revenge
and take the place of Richard. I can be the leader! Ryan spoke to himself. Ryan was not
aware that he changed.
At night, Ryan sneaked into Richards room, used a huge stone to kill him. He hated
him so much that he ate Richards flesh. He ran away, and took Richards gun. He ran to the
cave, where Henry lived. At the moment he entered the cave, he heard Henry saying, Here
you come. Please kill me. He shot Henrys heart. Thank you. Its in you, too. With a
meaningful smile on Henrys face, he died.
The whole world celebrated Henrys death. The whole world united as a nation.
People elected Ryan as the King for the world. On the ceremony, the scene he killed and ate

Richards flesh came out of nowhere to his mind. All of a sudden, he had a desire to eat
children.
Give me some children to eat.
What are you talking about, my majesty?
Go or die.
Ah! the soldier said as Ryan killed him.
I will go for you, my majesty, another soldier said.
Note:
I was inspired by the short story Volcano written by Lawrence Osborne. More than
half of the whole story is in a persons dream. What is different is that in my story, the main
character is able to foresee what will happen. The title It Is In You, Too is said twice by the
monster in the story. It refers to the evil thoughts inside people. When people get powerful,
their desire will be bigger, and they will do bad things they cannot do once they have a
chance. The idea of eating kids comes from the TV series, Hannibal Lecter. I just finished
Hannibal Lecter (Season Two) few weeks ago. In Hannibal Lecter, Hannibal ate whoever was
rude to him.
