company appeared before the

committee in January, seeking
permission to carry more patrons than the six permitted by
current rules. The company has
larger carriages and uses more
horses than other carriage-ride
providers in the borough. The
committee recommended in
January that the council start
the process of the needed ordinance change during its meeting
earlier this month, but ofcials
said the matter fell through the
cracks. Plans now call for council consideration next month.
Though the committee
asked the staff in October to begin developing rules regarding
outdoor dining and other mat-

ters in Lincoln Square, members were not ready on Tuesday

to discuss a draft offered by
Dellett. Weaver said he wasnt
sold on the need for rules, but
Brown noted that merchants
on the square have asked for
clarication and citizens have
expressed concerns about space
being available for pedestrians.
The matter has been discussed
repeatedly at many council,
committee, and special meetings over many months. Though
Gable noted that activity in the
square will soon blossom along
with warmer weather, Weaver
and Pitzer were content to put
the matter on next months
committee agenda. The square

has existed for more than 150

years, so another month wont
matter much, Weaver said.
Body cameras for ofcers
may soon be purchased for borough ofcers by American Legion Post 202, Police Chief Joe
Dougherty said. Each full-time
ofcer would have his or her
own, he said, and some would
be available for part-timers as
well. Ofcers could turn the
cameras on and off to record
interactions with the public,
which in other places has led
to fewer frivolous complaints
and better-behaved suspects, he
said.

works crew employs two fulltime and four part-time workers. It also has three large pump
trucks for plowing, he said, and
one for small one.
The plan, Gormont said, is
to possibly increase the size
of the public works crew. The

board of supervisors also would

like to see the crew have more
trucks and other useful tools.

Dandridge also has charges

of retail theft, theft by unlawful

taking, movable property and
receiving stolen property from
October.
Campbell told Dandridge on
Thursday that his aggravated
assault case could lead up to 20
years in jail with the retail theft
case adding a possible 15 years.

Elizabeth and I could not be

have been nding ways to contribute to our community where
we can, Strauss said in a written statement.

Gettysburg & Adams County.
I have tried my best to meet

town who hold a range of perspectives about local affairs

and studied Borough Council

Strauss gained an early education in politics while growing up in the Pittsburgh area,
he wrote, with a Republican
grandfather on the borough
council in Baldwin-Whitehall,
and a Democrat grandfather
active in local school board affairs.
True to their values of
consensus building and hard
work, Strauss wrote, I care
most about forging the right
personal relationships and fair
and open processes that promote good community action.
And at the end of the day,
he wrote, I want to see a Borough Council that compassionately and effectively addresses
the health and safety concerns
of all residents, particularly the
most vulnerable among us.
Strauss encouraged anyone
