Germany Internships

Objectives

To develop international empathy through cultural exchange.


To allow the student / trainee to reach a level of experience that is commendable
to a recognised knowledge and understanding of each of the core work experience
/ cultural exchange modules.
To provide for a rigorous system of task driven assessment.
To provide for the opportunity to overcome real life situations.
To learn skills to be used in future work based or training assignments.

Program Duration

Internships for 6 and 12 months maximum Visa Type


Internship or Traineeship visa
Maximum internship length is 12 months

Internship Conditions

1. Internship hours are typically set at 35-40 hours per week Students get paid by
month.
2. The min. salary in Germany is Euro 750 for students, but in case that
accommodation or food is provided companies/hotels can reduce the amount.The
minimum an applicant will earn after deductions is Euro 450 per month, with the
average being Euro 550 per month.
3. Health & Accident Insurance is mandatory and must be purchased in the
applicants mother country.
4. No income tax payable while the salary is below Euro 800 per month. At Euro
950 income tax will be 10%.
5. Airport Transfers are sometimes included in the program price. If an applicant
needs to make their ownway to their place of employment, the cost would
normally be between Euro 50 Euro 150. See servicelevel description in the
detailed terms and conditions.
Participant Eligibility Non-EU nationals Student Internship

Must be aged 18 to 35
Must be a student enrolled in a college/university program of study relevant to the
internship and must be enrolled for the duration of the internship.
Must have completed at least 4 semesters of degree level studies and be returning
to fulltime degree level studies.
Related work experience preferred but not essential.

Language requirements
English: The participant must have an understanding of the English language to at least
intermediate level so as to be able to communicate during the course of the internship and
cultural exchange program.
The participant should demonstrate comprehension in speaking, listening, reading and
writing. Sponsors may ask for proof of English language proficiencyAnd/or German:
The participant must have a knowledge and understanding of basic German, which may
be obtained from purchasing a German phrase book, or by attending a short course of
German.
Applicants must also detail knowledge and understanding of any other languages.
Registration Process
Submission of Registration Files by applicant:

Registration files reviewed by GRB offices.
Payment of Registration fees by applicant.
Submission of supporting documents by applicant.

The following information should be sent to GRB offices, by email. Note: All documents
must be sent together. Incomplete files will not be processed.
1. Copies of all relevant College/University diplomas/degrees / attestation letters and
other relevant diplomas and/or training certificates in English.
2. Copies of reference letter(s) in English from previous employer(s) on official
letterhead paper.
3. Copy of passport showing photo, number and signature.
4. Confirmation of English and/or German language proficiency, if requested.
5. Signed and dated rules and regulations.
6. Signed and dated Payment Policy.
7. Completed College/University Certificate of Enrolment form.
8. Confirmation of Insurance Coverage.
Please note that this list is not exhaustive and for certain sectors, categories and
professions, we will request additional information from the participant and requests must
be adhered to.

Interview with host employer/sponsor. You will be required, in some cases to


telephone the host employer for a telephone interview that will last approximately
15 minutes.
Provision of offer letter of internship from host employer is sent to applicant.
Offer letter of internship signed by applicant and returned to GRB offices.
Payment of balance of fees by applicant.
Issuance of offer letter and supporting visa documentation.
Visa application offer letter and supporting visa documentation will be sent to
applicant and applicant is required to take it with passport and supporting
documents to embassy in mother country and apply for entry visa.
Provision of orientation package by GRB offices.
Provision of travel plan by applicant to GRB offices.
Arrival at host property and career training orientation by host employer and GRB
offices.
Ongoing training verification by GRB partner offices.

End-to-End Process
GRB will endeavor to find a suitable career training establishment for the participant
within 4-12 weeks of receiving the participant registration files, registration fees and
supporting documentation, although it can take up to 6 months in some cases. Different
participants hold different skills so those with professional skills and a high level of

English language competency are preferred. If an applicant fails an interview, the


applicant will still be included on the GRB Database.
Internship/Traineeship Verification
All participants will be required to liaise regularly with GRB partner office and all
participants will be assigned a Student Internship Verifier who will meet regularly with
the participant to ensure that the conditions of the program are fulfilled. All participants
will be required to complete all assignments set by GRB and the host organization. All
evidence of knowledge, understanding and implementation must be
filed and documented by the participant as requested.
Safety Money / Emergency maintenance funds
Students are requested to hold 250 Euro at any one time.

German Internships Rules & Regulations 2013-2014
Under no circumstances will GRB or its associated companies accept contingent liability
for:

Delays in the process or outcome of the visa application.


The actions of participants.
The actions of the internship establishment.
Participants must not have the intent to abandon their country of residence in
order to remain in the country.
Participants agree to abide by all laws of the host country.
Participants will submit all documentation requested in a timely fashion and in a
good legible condition.
All fees must be paid prior to issuance of visa support documentation.

Participants will not apply for an entry visa until they have received the relevant
documentation.
Participants must arrive to start their internship on the dates specified by GRB.
Participants must ensure that they are available at their place of work when the
Internship Verifier makes a routine visit.
Participants must complete all career training assessments set by GRB and career
training establishment.
Any misrepresentation in conjunction with information provided will result in
immediate cancellation and termination of participation in the internship
