ETHNOGRAPHIC COMPLEXES OF ETR AND TRI
The past, as the basis for forming contemporary values poses the need for creating specific forms for its
maintenance. In the conditions of globalisation of culture, it is necessary to transform heritage into the cultural
code. Introducing ethnographic value into the cultural praxis must not be connected only to the tourist industry, but
it has to become a part of national cultural policy, so that the image of the national identity can be preserved.

Eastern Serbia and neighbouring regions
In this paper we have shortly presented and discussed particular notions about prophecy and aeshatolic
fore-sign, which are connected to Serbian people and state, but here, particularly in Eastern Serbia and neighbouring regions. Eastern Serbia, in this context, represents the area of the essential national and general meaning. According to the own field research, there are examples which prove this thesis.

RELATIONS AND INFLUENCE AFTER THE END OF SOCIALISM
The post-socialist democracies have guaranteed the great religious freedom of people. Nevertheless,
inhabitants of Russia and Serbia of mostly Orthodox religion do not see further religious development, neither
in mere reproduction of state from the past, nor they follow the Western model. In these two countries, there is
active presence of the both Orthodox churches in social life, and the political establishment supports it.

ETHNOLOGICAL DETERMINATION OF THE MASK RITUAL
IN THE SECOND PART OF THE 20TH CENTURY

With special analyses of the Eastern Serbian region

This paper is on the empirical-ethnological materials about masks as theoretical views on the mask
rituals, particularly in the area of Eastern Serbia. These issues were particularly discussed by S Zecevic and D.
Antonijevic, analyzing the problem of masking of the Serbs, the Wallach people and the Romanins, particularly
the Romanian inhabitants of Banat, seeing that in the phenomenon of masking, there are cults of the forefathers
interwoven and the agrarian magic cult as well.

MAKING BOWLS CREPULJA AT STARA PLANINA
Making special kind of bowls-crepulja is at the same time hand-made art and custom praxis which is very
interesting for studying folk life appearing fifty years ago. The custom disappeared at that time. Magical and
practical become one during centuries and it lasted for centuries further on. This paper gives the most typical
examples in different villages, with the aim of deeper study of the essence of customs in all the variations.

An old Serbian custom is well known in the area of Svrljig. In the families in which children die, the last
born child is taken to the crossroads, early in the morning, before the Sun rises, and a new name is given to him.
The new god father becomes a man who first sees a newborn. This paper is the research of the reasons why in
Eastern cultural zone of Svrljig, always give the name Najden and in the Western cultural zone it is Vuk.
