In developing countries, be they in South Asia, Africa or South America, the longterm interests of the countries and the short-term interests of their politicians are not
in alignment and most often clash. In shortage economies with a disproportionately
large population, and with highly skewed levels of assets ownership and access to and
distribution of assets, and deficient employment opportunities, democracy tends to
remain at best in form and not in fact, and 'the might is right' syndrome tends to
prevail negating the prospects for a responsible and responsive civil society,
manifesting instead a corrupt and exploiting society rendering good governance wellnigh impossible.
12 If politicians in power do not look after their short-term interests, the country will
get benefited at large.
13. No form of governance other than democracy can work well in developing
counties.
14. Rights of every segment of the society are well protected in developing countries
under democratic rule.
15. All the developing countries are economically weak and confronted with a large
chunk of population.
16. A boost to the level of literacy in developing countries can help checking the
malpractices prevalent in the system of governance.
