Interested in a quick, easy way to find out what life is really like as a Cambridge University student? Here's one that won't even involve you leaving
your computer - it's on Twitter! Cambridge University Students' Union
(CUSU) is about to launch a new Twitter scheme called #CamTweet. From
Sunday 11th January 2015, 12 Cambridge students on 12 subject-based
Twitter accounts will tweet daily about their lives at Cambridge everything
from what and how theyre studying to getting involved with clubs/societies
and hanging out with friends.
To find the project just search #CamTweet in Twitter and/or follow the accounts (found via @camtweetcusu). We plan to expand the #CamTweet
scheme to also include informal Q&A sessions in the near future!
Screen Printing, letterpress, fashion customisation, lase cutting, vacuum forming, creative thinking and new
drawing techniques and using materials including fabric, paper and metal.
Art and Design Summer school students will stay in the University Halls of Residence and will have the opportunity
to participate in a number of fun activities in the evening from bowling to cinema.
Who is the summer school for?
The summer school is for Year 12 or Year 1 college students who are considering applying to university, especially
those with a particular interest in Art and Design related courses.
What costs are involved?
This summer school is free, and Bucks New University will cover costs such as food, accommodation, entertainment
and travel expenses.

Opportunities for year 12s - SOAS summer schools
SOAS, University of London is the only university in the UK specialising in the study of Asia, Africa and
the Middle East. SOAS summer schools grapple with some of the pressing issues democracy, development, human rights, identity, poverty, religion, social change confronting these regions and our
globalised world.
SOAS Summer Schools last for four days, they are completely free and non-residential, they will go from
9-3:30.
There are a limited number of places available for each summer school and a mixture of academic and
widening participation criteria will be used to allocate places. The application deadline for all Summer

Opportunities for year 12s - UCL Summer Challenge
What is it?
Summer Challenge is a programme of subject specific courses for Year 12 student attending state schools in or
near London, whose parents have not been to university, and who are academically high achieving.
There are a number of courses on offer in a diverse range of STEM and humanities subjects, all taught by UCL academics and PhD students.
Courses run for six weeks at UCL's campus in Bloomsbury during June and July, on either Tuesday or Wednesday
evenings, from 4.30 6.30pm.

HSBC are calling students from the South East aged 16-18 years old to think about a time when they have displayed
HSBCs values in their everyday lives.

Successful students will be invited to a MyKindaCrowd and HSBC Skills Insight and Assessment Day on April 24th
2015, where they will learn a range of employability skills related to Investment Banking.
From this day, 50 students will be selected to attend one of the following HSBC work experience programmes in
August 2015:
Inspiring Potential Insight Day
It is a one day workshop that will include networking with business representatives across all HSBC divisions which
will enable students to get a sense of the varying roles available.
The Aspiring Female Potential Programme
Students will spend three days with HSBC learning about the various functions of a global investment bank, meeting
inspirational people from across the organisation, and developing skills that will be beneficial not only at school but
at university and beyond.
Criteria
When thinking about entering this challenge please make sure you fit these criteria first:
You are in year 12 or 13 from a state School or College
You attend a School or College in London or within commuter distance to HSBCs London office
You are in the first generation in your immediate family to attend University OR are eligible for free school meals
You are free to attend the Skills Insight and Assessment Day on April 2th and have permission from your school and
family to do so.

Taster Lectures
They have an exciting opportunity for a Photography & Design Intern at A Global Village. The role would suit those
interested in global affairs and science policy.
The successful candidate will gain experience working as part of the team behind a successful online publication
with articles written by leaders in the fields of science, technology and medicine. Hours and location: 1-2 hours per
week, mostly remotely but the successful candidate should be able to attend editorial meetings in South Kensington.
