Process: I chose a Triad scheme and found that especially in the
picture that I took that Red, Blue, and yellow stood out that most.
I took the picture with a T3I rebel Cannon camera. After I took the
photo I used specific design techniques to be able to formulate a
good design. I used the eye dropper tool a lot to be able to coordinate the colors and encorporated rectangles and lines into the
picture.

Website
Instructor: Joel Judkins
Course: Comm 130
Date: April 1st, 2015
Programs Used: Notepad ++, Photoshop
Description: A website designed to showcase a logo that I personally created.
Objectives: Size and optimize an original logo as a .png for a
web page so the long side is 300 500 pixels.
Write content to describe the process of creating your logo and
how it appeals to a target audience. (Minimum of 200 words. Include rationale for colors, appeal to target audience, design skills,
etc,)
Acquire a working knowledge of HTML. (Include all required tags
Doctype (provided), html, head, title, meta charset (provided),
body, h1, h2, p, ol or ul (with li tags), img, br, and a link to blog)
Acquire a working knowledge of CSS. (Customize the provided
CSS provided to format the HTML to complement the logo design.
Change at least the following: The h1 text color & h1 background
color, font colors for the paragraphs & list items, the background
color, font families and add at least one css comment.)
Identify hex colors to match logo, using Photoshop color picker.
Process: I used an HTML validator to check my HTML and make
sure everything was smooth. After I downloaded the css, I found
the colors I wanted on photoshop and added them in. I also
changed the fonts to Gotham and Times New Roman. I decided to
make the heading bigger and add the title on the side so it wasnt
cluttered together.

Letterhead
Instructor: Joel Judkins
Course: Comm 130
Date: April 1st, 2015
Programs Used: Illustrator, In-design
Description: A letterhead with a logo that I personally created
Objectives: Use the basic tools in Illustrator & InDesign.
Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image. Do not
imitate existing logos or use previous designs. Dont use photos
or live trace.
Use the new logo to design consistent layouts for a business card
and letterhead. Photos are okay on business card and letterhead
as additional design elements. Letterhead should be 8.5 x 11,
full-bleed optional, but trim only .125. Business card should be
3.5 x 2 and printed above center on a vertical page.
Apply typography rules, keeping small copy.
Keep designs simple with light watermarks and drop shadows
and plenty of white space.
Process: I started the project by using adobe illustrator and with
the ellipses tool is was able to make circles. With the pathfinder
tool I was able to cut a satellite shape subtracting the back circle from the front, and make it the distinct color I wanted. I then
brought the logo into Indesign. On the letter head I used the
rectangle tool to be able to make the gray and blue rectangles. I
used the opacity tool and made the Hard Knox Logo blend in
the back on my paper.

Graduate Leadership
Conference

Instructor: Joel Judkins

Course: Comm 130
Date: April 1st, 2015
Programs Used: In-design
Description: Flier project for Graduate Leadership Seminar
Objectives: Apply the design principles and use appropriate
typography.
Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout.
Retrieve image and logo from links on this page.
Create a project folder with image, logo and InDesign document
to keep links in InDesign intact.
Process: I first created some sketches of my layout. I used black
lines for repetition and contrast. I wanted to emphasize the logo
in the top left, and create a good focal point. I left white space and
kept my body copy small. I was given the image, logo, and content for this flier.

Brochure
Instructor: Joel Judkins
Course: Comm 130
Date: April 1st, 2015
Programs Used: In-Design
Description: A folded brochure and logo that I personally created
Objectives: Set up and align a two-sided, folded document.
Create an original, new logo and use it in a brochure.
Incorporate quality images. Incorporate at least four quality images, not including the logo. One should be clipped in Photoshop
and text-wrapped in InDesign so the text follows the cutout shape
of the image.
Write at least 250 words of original copy in at least three paragraphs, headers, and subheaders.
Trim for a full bleed and print in duplex (two-sided) color.
Process: I made the logo using Adobe In design, then I made
the changes I needed to for two pages and measured out my brochure. I wanted the cover photo, and the inch and a half sticking
out to match up, so I copied and pasted the sunset image, and
measured it for the correct length. I used the rectangle tool, and
ellipsis tool to make my logo, and then I used the pathfinder tool
and cut out the sides that I didnt want.

Do not imitate existing logos or use previous designs.

it with the pen/pencil, but delete the image before submitting.)
Gather opinions from at least ten people about which logo appeals most to them.

Use layers to design text, and repeating graphic elements in Photoshop.
Print with full-bleed margins. Trim only 1/8 (0.125) from all four

Process: First I used the shape tool to make the long rectangles
and added design colors. I also chose to add contrasting lines
in each of the rectangles. I also made the logo contrast with the
different color in each logo. I used the Ellipsis tool in each logo to
make the Hard Knox Logo which represents a Dish signal. I chose
schemes that would contrast with the fonts and words and get
someone interested in what the logo had to offer.

Process: I scanned the image into Microsoft word and then

played around with the different picture effects that Word has to
offer. At first I decided to leave the picture its same color and add
the text boxed with a white glow around them to add emphasis,
but decided to make the font and glow contrast with the NBA logo
and use the same color schemes to add depth.
