MANAGEMENT
How WAERlinx can provide
organisations with the resources to
cost-effectively manage their assets.
WHITE PAPER
Introduction
Asset management is crucial for businesses that wish to keep costs down whilst
running an efficient service. Waers Cloud-based solution, WAERlinx, provides
companies with the resources to systematically process operations,
maintenance and the upgrading of assets, cost-effectively.
For many years, manufacturers and logistics providers around the world have
been driving their supply chains through the innovative features of WAERlinx.
Waer Systems has taken their experience in controlling inventory and has
applied it to the management and reservation of an organisations assets, to
great effect. This discussion document outlines the features and benefits of
Waers offering.
Asset Reservation
Assets can be reserved either individually or as a collection in the form of a
service or kit. This gives users fine-grained control of their assets whilst still
being able to make reservations efficiently at a higher level.
If assets are reserved in the form of a service, the asset manager is able to
change the detail of that reservation by removing, adding or changing the
assets allocated to that service reservation. This fine-grained control allows for
better use of the available assets, for example, removing an asset that is not
required for a particular implementation of a service.
Reservations are given a from and to date to indicate when the asset is
required. Interested parties are then able to view the future usage profile of an
asset and determine whether the organisation needs to acquire new assets.
A reservation can be made for exclusive or shared use of an asset such that if
an asset is shareable, it can be used across multiple projects. This allows the
organisation to make savings through more efficient use of the available assets.
Asset reservations can have different levels of confirmation:
Tentative
Confirmed
Locked.
This allows a user to make tentative reservations in advance of the requirement
being fully formed, giving better long-term visibility of asset availability, and
reservations can be altered as the actual requirements become better
understood.
Asset Reporting
A number of system reports serve to provide the user with management
information concerning the assets. These include:
Historical profile of asset use
Current snapshot of the asset register
Future profile of asset requirements.
Asset Decommissioning
An asset can be placed in a suspended state where it exists within the system
but is currently unavailable for allocation. This feature allows users to make an
asset temporarily unavailable and can be used where there is a cost, for
example, in having it always available, such as machinery that needs to be
powered down.
Assets can be archived so that they still appear on the system, but it is not
anticipated that they will be used again, and archived assets can be
decommissioned, permanently removing them from the asset register.
Real-time global visibility allows greater control and management of all assets,
everywhere.
