ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY DEFINITION

There are roles and tasks, responsibility, and accountability that go into an acceptable use
policy for the user domain. Web surfing determines what a user can do on company time with
company resources. When the user has access to the internet what types of controls should the
organization have on the certain internet sites being accessed.

For the Lan to Wan AUP will go hand in hand with the roles and tasks parts of the user
domain. Users would be given access to certain systems, applications, and data depending on
their access rights. The AUP is like a rulebook that employees need to follow when using an
organizations IT assets and if they are violated it could be grounds for termination. The AUP
will set grounds on employees to understand that they are responsible for any and all actions on
an organizations IT assets.
The AUP for Richman Investments will be as follows. Users are granted this privilege
and must adhere to strict guidelines concerning the appropriate use of this information resource.
1. You may use only the computers, computer accounts, and computer files for
which you have authorization
2. You may not use another individual's account, or attempt to capture or guess other
users' passwords
3. You should make a reasonable effort to protect your passwords and to secure
resources against unauthorized use or access.

4. You are using company property as well as company e-mail. You are responsible
for your send not for what you receive.
5. Do not send offensive e-mails whether it be language or suggestive images.
Any time you do not adhere to these guidelines you will be reprimanded. The punishment
will fit the failure based upon the guideline that you break. In addition, any inappropriate use
that involves a criminal offense will result in legal action. All users are required to acknowledge
receipt and understanding of guidelines contained in this document.
