Tacoma Rainiers (6-10) at Sacramento River Cats (8-8)

RHP Forrest Snow (0-1, 5.40) vs. LHP Braulio Lara (0-2, 8.78)

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: Tacoma held onto a 3-2 lead

to beat Albuquerque and split the series 2-2. The
Rainiers finished the homestand 3-5, moving to
6-10 on the season. Infielder Jesus Montero went
2-for-4 with two RBI, and has now hit safely in 14
of his 15 games this year. Starting pitcher Jordan
Pries scattered just two hits and allowed one run in
6.1 innings pitched, the longest outing for a Tacoma
starter this year. Mayckol Guiape allowed three hits
and no runs through 2.2 innings in relief, earning his
second save of the year.
FRIENDS ACROSS THE FIELD: The Sacramento
roster currently features four former Rainiers players
in LHP Clay Rapada, catcher Guillermo Quiroz,
infielder Carlos Triunfel, and outfielder Darren Ford.
Rapada made 14 relief appearances for Tacoma in
2014, going 4-1 with a 4.12 ERA (9ERx19.2IP).
Quiroz played 168 games across four seasons for
the Rainiers in 2006, 2009, 2010, and 2012 while
hitting .285 (165x579) with 97 RBI.
Triunfel spent the first eight years of his professional
career in the Mariners organization, including time
with Tacoma in 2011, 12, and 13. In total he saw
time in 258 games while hitting .270 (268x990) with
59 doubles and 103 RBI.
Ford hit .273 (83x304) with 33 RBI, 16 doubles, and 26
stolen bases through 70 games with Tacoma in 2012.
UNSTOPPABLE FORCE: Through the first 16
games of the year, the Rainiers have the second
best offense in the PCL with runners in scoring
position, hitting .331 (49x148) with eight doubles,
two triples, and four home runs. However...
IMMOVABLE OBJECT: Sacramentos pitching
staff has allowed an opponent batting average of
just .275 (36x131) with runners in scoring position,
the eighth best mark in the league.
EN FUEGO: Infielder Jesus Montero has hit safely
in 14 of 15 games this year, and his .371 (23x62)
batting average and 12 RBI both lead the Seattle
farm system.
GERMANO FLOW: Rainiers reliever Justin
Germano (1-1, 1.42) ranks among the best pitchers
in the Pacific Coast League and Minor League
Baseball. His .091 (4x44) opponent average and
.047 WHIP lead the league and are third among
qualified full-season Minor League pitchers. His
1.42 ERA (2ERx12.2IP) is the fifth best among
qualified pitchers in the PCL.
RAINIERS VS. SAC:

2014: (8-8)

LET IT SNOW: Reliever Forrest Snow steps

into the starting rotation tonight for the Tacoma
Rainiers, making his first start of the season. Snow
has made 24 starts for Tacoma across the last
four years, racking up a 4-7 record with a 6.27
ERA (83ERx119.1IP). In his starts he has limited
opposing batters to a .269 (125x465) average.
PLAYING CATCH UP: Tacoma has gotten home
runs from every position this year except catcher.
Rainiers catchers John Baker and John Hicks have
combined for 90 career home runs (Major and Minor
League) in 4655 at-bats, averaging out to one home
run every 51 at-bats.
NO QUENTIN HIM: Former two-time American
League All-Star Carlos Quentin notched his first
hit as a Rainiers last night when he doubled in the
first inning, eventually coming around to score
the teams first run of the night. In addition to his
nine years of Major League experience, Quentin
has played 262 career games in the PCL, hitting
.302 (274x907) with 36 home runs. The Stanford
University product also holds the league record for
most HBP in one season, getting pegged 31 times
in 2006 with Tucson.
SEEKING 4000: The Rainiers need 11 victories
to record 4,000 all-time franchise wins. Since
1960, Tacoma has put together a record of 3,9893,969 (.501). The Rainiers record as an affiliate of
the Seattle Mariners is 1,466-1,412 (.509). Among
currently active PCL members, the Rainiers have
the third most all-time franchise wins, behind only
Sacramento (5,536) and Salt Lake (4,258).
