My unique role required working directly to the two execs, managing the teams on the
ground and in the edit. I was the first port of call for all stories and character journeys in the
Call Centre across the entire series. I was responsible for:
Ensuring every single story at shoot level had a solid narrative arc.
Ranking and judging all the material arriving in the edit
Giving and receiving daily editorial feedback to/from shooting teams to nail down
stories with substance.
Establishing a strong chain of communication across the production including
commissioner briefings.
I was also responsible for directing on location and dealing with difficult contributors.

I was in charge of making the final episode of this bold, multi- award nominated, ratings
Winning series. I succeeded in making this film as thematically strong as those earlier in the
run, often by finding undiscovered gems in the volumes of rushes.

BBC Fact Ents
Charting the highs and lows of the first year on the wards, this three week edit involved
constructing from scratch an engaging stand-alone BBC hour using old and new footage
with extremely tight deadlines.

I self- shot all the actuality for this hour long film, following a family on mission to
address lifestyle issues. I produced and directed an entire family (two under the age of
eight), managing to convey the wit and warmth of a Welsh couple trying to do the best for
their children.

Silver River
I negotiated difficult access issues in normally closed communities including the London
based Maori community and a Bristol based circus, to put two contributors on a rollercoaster
of emotional discovery.

This critically acclaimed Apprentice style competition involved a tough shooting schedule and
a very complex edit. I managed the stresses and strains of two brothers in the kitchen and
front of house in a remote countryside location and captured the drama and tensions that
ensued.

In this landmark social experiment, which went on to achieve phenomenal US success, five
teenage couples were given the opportunity to live as adults. Shoot side, I managed
explosive hormones and storylines. Edit side, vast amounts of Ob doc footage to make
into a BBC hour.

A TX pilot following two young girls on a journey to change their destructive lifestyles with
pioneering CGI graphics. I self-shot the entire hour on Canon XF305 over 12 weeks and
oversaw crew shooting and cutting edge graphics technology at Pinewood studios.

Unique, behind the scenes view of the inner workings of Londons St Georges Tooting. I built
instant rapport with hospital staff, patients and relatives. I also directed stories under intense
pressure in delicate, often volatile, situations.

A lively, high-rating episode; I used decisive story-telling skills to drive the intense shoot
week whilst simultaneously juggling contributors, logistics, and two crews. Extremely
fast turnaround edit with emphasis on tight scripting and quirky, but popular music.

In this first ever series of the long running format, I used my experience of Obs doc actuality
filming to self-shoot the diet swap weeks and pioneered the overall series style for two of the
magazine strands; choosing the music and writing style in the edit to set the tone.

For this production, I was asked to revamp the series stylistically and editorially. I oversaw a
team of casting producers, and I directed the first ever set of powerful American films in the
Supersize canon.

ambition and big thinking with very little resources. Often required using my own initiative to

Exploring the myths behind the dark days of World War II in this RTS nominated series. I
was editorially responsible for the entire series. As well as being the main point of contact
for leading historians and archivists, I set the visual style and successfully managed a team
of three P/Ds and APs and oversaw the Dub, Online and voice over sessions.

Singlehandedly in charge of structuring the narrative , I had to think laterally to source quirky,
interesting and relevant interviewees and locations and deliver the finished edited programme

Honour Killings and Beyond Hitlers Reach charting the journey of seven Jewish
children who fled to Britain at the onset of World War Two. I was able to provide the lightness
of touch needed when dealing with sensitive issues and a journalistic knowledge of the
subjects. I also successfully gained access to difficult interviewees.
