St Valentines Charity Concert

All of us have been shocked and devastated by the many

gruelling pictures we have seen of the chaos in Haiti, one
of the poorest countries in the world.

The earth quake appears to have destroyed almost every-

thing and thousands have died, and millions are home-
less, have lost everything, and now there is the enormous
shortage of food , water and medical resources. Many of
us feel helpless and wonder what we can really do to help
in the enormous disaster.
Well here’s what you can do .

A special St Valentines Music Concert is being hastily

arranged for Saturday February 13th at the Community
Centennial Hall in Maungaturoto, to enable us all to make
a worthy contribution to this earth shattering need. We are
aiming to rally together some of the best musicians in
Northland to give you an evening of outstanding entertain-
ment. At this stage we have made many contacts with a
range of gifted artists and are awaiting their responses,
but all have indicated a willingness to share in this event.
We are delighted to be able to confirm that Richard and
Joan Kennaway have agreed to come and members of
Opera North will also be coming to give our concert a truly
magnificent performance.

We believe that this is likely to be one of the best musical

evenings ever staged in Maungaturoto. We urge everyone
to encourage family and friends to come along and both
enjoy a wonderful evening of variety and fun as well as
contributing to such a tremendous need.
