National Kavi Pradeep Samman Instituted by the Government of Madhya Pradesh in the
memory of late renowned poet and songwriter Kavi Pradeep. He is best known for his
patriotic song Aye Mere Watan Ke Logo written as a tribute to the soldiers who had died
during defending the country during the Sino-Indian War.
3. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two units each of 600 Mega Watt (MW) capacity in
Shree Singaji Thermal Power Project in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh.
4. Fourth River festival has begun at Bandrabhan bank of Narmada River in Hoshangabad
district in Madhya Pradesh. Three day festival was inaugurated by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh
Chouhan. Theme of this years river festival is River, its catchment area, chemicals and crisis.
In this years festival more than 100 participants will discuss topics like effects of chemicals
used in agriculture on forests, wild life and human beings. Success stories on natural farming
will also be part of discussion.
5. Madhya Pradesh has been awarded the 10th national award for excellent work in Mahatma
Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA).
6. Bhopal gas tragedy which is considered as the worlds worst industrial disaster has
completed 30 years on 3rd December. Members of both the Houses of the Parliament stood
in silence for a few minutes as a mark of respect to those who were killed. They even
expressed their support and commitment to the people affected by the gas leak.
7. On 5th November 2014, Madhya Pradesh state government approved its ambitious Defence
Products Investment Policy. Madhya Pradesh has become the first state to formulate such a
policy in the country. The cabinet meeting was chaired by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister
Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
8. The Centre is planning to create a SPV (Special Purpose Vehicle) to implement the Ken-Betwa
River Linking Project. Interlinking the rivers of India has been one of the major initiative of the
NDA government at the Centre. Ken-Betwa River Linking Project The Ken-Betwa link is one of
the 16 river linking proposals under the Peninsular Component of the National Perspective
Plan (NPP) for water resources development. It envisages diversion of surplus water from the
Ken basin to the water-deficit Betwa basin. The project will have a dam on Ken River along
with a 221 km link canal. The project was conceived in two phases, with the first phase
benefitting both states, and the second phase confined to Madhya Pradesh. There are plans
to implement both phases at the same time.
9. Madhya Pradesh has launched the 2014 edition of it Global Investors Summit. The event will
be held from October 8 to October 10 in Indore. Indore is considered the business capital of
Madhya Pradesh. Through the Global Investors Summit, the government seeks to display the
strengths and industrial prowess of Madhya Pradesh. It is a bid to attract Indian and foreign
investors to Madhya Pradesh. The Global Investors Summit will also act a forum for
interaction between the Indian entrepreneurs, heads of states, policy makers, investors and
other stakeholders. Multiple countries are also expected to be a part of the Global Investors
Summit.

The 98th birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay was celebrated on the 25th of
September, with the Madhya Pradesh Government establishing a Chair in his honour at
Makhanlal University. Pandit Deendayal was an eminent political activist and philosopher. He
was a noted leader of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, which is considered a precursor to the BJP
(Bharatiya Janata Party). Pandit Deendayal was born in 1916 in what is now Uttar Pradesh.
He excelled in academics since a young age and was even selected to the Provincial
Services. However, he chose to dedicate his life to the common man and engage in public
service instead of joining the Provincial Services.

Next year on Independence Day, India will have the world's largest 750MW solar power
plant in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh, which will pip America's much-vaunted 550megawatt Desert Sunlight solar project in California, commissioned four days ago.

increasing employment opportunities for youth of the state and by increasing production
capacities.

Target of construction of 7575 roads of total length of 19386 km for linking 9109 villages
under Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojana
Ambitious Narmada Gambhir Link Project sanctioned with estimated cost of 2000 crore
rupees. Under this project, along with irrigation of 50 thousand hectare land of Malwa region
in the basin of river Gambhir, availability of water for daily use will also be ascertained. Along
with this, Lift Irrigation schemes for Sihada in Khandwa district and Dabri in Alirajpur are

Target of construction of 150000 houses in 2015-16 under Mukhya Mantri Gramin Awas
Mission, considering the problem of housing in rural areas.
Provision of 300 crore rupees for Simhastha-2016 to be held in Ujjain
Provision of 1398 crore rupees for Laadli Lakshmi Yojana scheme (Under the scheme the
government purchases National Savings Certificate of Rs 6,000 each year for five years and
these would be renewed from time to time. At the time of girl's admission in the sixth
standard, Rs 2,000 and on admission in the ninth standard Rs 4,000 would be paid to the
girl. When she gets admitted in the 11th standard she would receive Rs 7,500. During her
higher secondary education she would get Rs 200 every month. On completion of 21 years
she would receive the remaining amount, which would be more than Rs 1 lakh)
Second phase of Tejasvini Women Empowerment Scheme is proposed to be started from
2015-16 for entrepreneurship development and providing better opportunities of selfemployment for rural women.
Kshamata Yojana is proposed to be started for developing skilled and competent community
leadership capacity at rural level.
New Scheme initiative for providing free coaching in reputed coaching centres for national
level entrance examination for medical and engineering courses with two years coaching to
100 students and one year coaching to 25 students
Sarva Seva Project with 300 crore rupees is proposed for extension of CM Helpline and
linking it with other services.

During the rule of the Mughals, famous musician Tansen of Madhya Pradesh used to be the
official singer of the Mughal Samrat Akbar's court. Genius like Tansen who perfected the
dhrupad style of singing was born here. Moreover, the Gwalior Gharana of Madhya Pradesh is
a famous name in the world of Indian classical music today.

Dharmrajeshwar is an ancient Buddhist and Hindu cave temple site of 4th-5th Century in
Mandsaur district in Madhya Pradesh, India.

The Bhoj Wetland consists of two lakes located in the city of Bhopal, the capital of the central
Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The two lakes are the Bhojtal and the Lower Lake, which lie
to the west of the city center. The Bhojtal was created by Paramara Raja Bhoj (1005-1055),
ruler of Malwa. He established Bhopal (also named after him) to secure the eastern frontier
of his kingdom. The lake was created by constructing an earthen dam across the Kolans
River. Bhadbhada dam was constructed in 1965 at the southeast corner of the Bhojtal; it now
controls the outflow to the Kaliasot River.
Tawa Reservoir is a large reservoir on the Tawa River in central India. It is located in
Hoshangabad District of Madhya Pradesh state. The reservoir was formed by the construction
of the Tawa Dam, which began in 1958 and was completed in 1978.
Asirgarh Qila is an Indian fortress (qila) situated in the Satpura Range, about 20 km north of
the city of Burhanpur, in Burhanpur District of Madhya Pradesh state. Because the fortress
commands a pass through the Satpuras connecting the valleys of the Narmada and Tapti
rivers, one of the most important routes from northern India to the Deccan,it was known as
the "key to the Deccan". During Mughal Era, it was considered that Deccan starts from here:
the empire from Asirgarh to Delhi was considered as Hindustan. The fort was built by Asa Ahir
of the Ahir dynasty.

Griddhraj Parvat : It is situated near Devrajnagar village in the tehsil of Ramnagar, in the
