CHILDHOOD EVENT

(A Scary Experience)

Have you ever been scared? So scared that you felt that your heart might stop any moment. A
feeling so intense, that you wished that you never have to experience it again. I am not someone who
possesses a weak heart. I have always considered myself a brave and calm individual. But I guess there is
point in life when even the bravest of heart are tested to their limits. This is no different. It was May 13 th,
2007 just another day. I was 4 th grade on elementary school and had classes in the morning. As it was on
Friday, I stayed back and spent more time with my friends after school. We had fried rice for lunch at
Warsek and then we left to our respective homes.
After changing my school uniform, I took shower then went to sleep and did not wake up until 4
p.m. My parents were leaving for Dads business trip to East Java and they would not be back until
tomorrow. My younger brother and I were quiet happy about the fact that we can do whatever we wanted
for the whole day. We were planning to stay awake until late night and spending our time by watching
horror movies. However, little did we know that we were going to regret these feeling later? Mom and
Dad left around 6 p.m. Therefore, it was only my younger brother Wisnu and me in the whole home. We
had dinner around 8 p.m. and watched movie after that.
What movie would you like to watch tonight bro? I asked. Lets watch something different, I knew
Dad hided a movie on top of cabinet last week but he did not allow us to watch because too scary for us
Wisnu replied. Fine, Dads not home after all so I will go and grab it, I said. Wow... Look at this! I
said. What is the title? Wisnu asked. It said Suzanna, Beranak Dalam Kubur I replied. Are we going
to watch this? I added. Well...why not? Its only movie, isnt it? Wisnu replied.
My brother and I were watching a horror movie whose actor well known as the queen of horror movie in
Indonesia. The movie was about a pregnant woman who was murdered but was able to give birth inside
of her grave and became a ghost that looked for her murders to revenge. My brother and I were too scary
as this was the scariest movie we ever watched and this might be the reason why our Dad forbade us to
watch it. We both frightened and sweated out, we decided to turn it off, as we could not watch for any
longer. As I was about to turn off the TV, there was power outage all of sudden. We both screamed out
and looked at the outside that was totally black out. We neither had preparation for this situation nor knew
what to do. We decided to sat down and tried to calm down, hoped the power might back on soon. My
brother started crying and I hugged him, as I was scared to death as well. My experience even got worse
when suddenly we heard the sound of slit drums knocked aloud along the the place where we lived at. We
both screamed out as we thought that what we saw in movie would become real.
The time showed 12.30 p.m. and finally the power back on, Mr. Parman, our neighbor came by to our
home. He asked by our parents to see if we were fine at home. He told us that during the power outage
there was a thief entered a home but got cough by villager that was the reason people knocked the slit
drums. He told us to go sleep and stop watching horror movie. Mr. Parman stayed
