a) Year Dependent
b) Year Independent
c) Calendar Year

Year dependent Fiscal Year:-Start and end date of 2 consecutive financial
years is different. Year dependent fiscal year means the start and end date of
posting period of some fiscal year will be different from the dates of other
fiscal year. The posting period would be different for the fiscal years.
Like in a fiscal year variant 1 fiscal year is from 1 st apr to 31st march and 2nd
fiscal year is 1st june to 30th may.
Year Independent Fiscal year:- Year Independent Fiscal years uses the same
time frame of posting period and the posting periods are always start and
end with same day of the year.
1st apr to 31st mar 2014 and 1st apr to 31st mar 2015.Both are fiscal year
dependent.
Calendar and non-calendar Year:-The posting periods are same as calendar
year.1st jan to 31st December is calendar year.
If the fiscal year years posting period is not calendar year then it is noncalendar year.
Shortened fiscal year:-Fiscal year that contains the less than 12 months .(It
can be dependent or independent fiscal year).
Shortened fiscal year arises at the time of establishment of new company at
midyear or Changeover from calendar year to non-calendar year. Mostly we
maintain as year dependent because we are restricting to a particular year.

We need to maintain the fiscal year variant for every year

Year shift
+1=If the fiscal year is later than calendar year.
-1=If the fiscal year is before the calendar year.
