To connect to the internet via GPRS Internet service of Warid,

you have to follow the procedure described below.

Important Step
Install the modem drivers on your system (laptop/desktop)
from the Content CD of the handset which is included inside
the box of the handset. Now if that CD e.g. CD of Sony Ericsson
k 500i is not available you can download modem driver of k500i
from Internet but you must need modem driver of that
handset.
After installing the application you have to connect your
handset with the PC.

To connect the handset with your PC via Infrared

Steps:

1. Connect Devices via IrDA (automatic/install modem

driver)
2. Establish a dialup connection between handset & Laptop

Step1:

Infrared connection

Enable the IrDa function of the handset.

To do this, select the connections or connectivity menu and
then IrDa and place the handset in front of your PCs IrDa
device in order to ensure that the IrDa devices of both PC and
handset can communicate.
Then the modem of the handset will be installed automatically,
or you will be prompted to install it with the help of installing
devices wizard.
Select find driver automatically and then click on next. The
wizard will install your modem automatically.
In any other case select select the I will install it from a list
tab and click on next.
Select modems and then Nokia or Sony Ericsson or Handset
that is in use in the manufactures tab.
Select e.g.Nokia 6600 IrDa and then next and Finish.

Step 2:

Establishing a dialup connection

If you have established a connection with your PC and your

handset, and you have installed the handset as a modem, you
should follow the steps written below.
Remember always use Access Point Name (APN) Warid in the
GPRS connection settings of your handset.
Laptop/Desktop Settings
Follow the steps to configure your computer settings.
Click on the Start button and then Control Panel.

Then select Network connections.

After that select Create a new connection

The new connection wizard will appear. Click on next.

Select connect to the Internet and click next

6600 IrDa or Standard Infrared Modem

Then enter the name of the connection that you will use, and
click next.
In this case type Warid GPRS

Then enter the Phone number that you will use.

In this case type *99***#

You can even enter phone number as *99***1# or *99***2#

i.e. *99***External Id#. Multiple accesses can be defined, and
usually (depends on the handset vendors) the order they
appear corresponds to their CID.
First = CID 1
Second CID 2.
When you configure the desktop/laptops DIAL UP, you must
provide an access number; for GPRS they are standard as :
*99***CID#
If CID 1 had warid as its APN, using this CID will give access
to internet.: *99***1#
If CID 2 has wap.warid it will give access to wap using this
CID will give access to wap: *99***2#
e.g.

Then you will be prompt to enter the User name and Password
of the connection. Always leave them blank, and click next.

Then select Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop

and click
Finish.
