Simplify Integration with SAP HANA Cloud Platform

SAP HANA Cloud Platform is an in-memory cloud platform for todays increasingly networked, mobile, social,
and data-driven world. With the power of SAP HANA, you can rapidly build and deploy applications in the cloud
that provide new capabilities or extend the capabilities of existing applications that reside either on premise or in
the cloud. The applications you build on SAP HANA Cloud Platform can help your business achieve greater
agility while increasing worker productivity and customer satisfaction.
When building a new application, it is important to consider how it will interoperate with your existing applications
and data within your application landscape. Generally, you will want to integrate the application with others so
as not to create information silos or data inconsistencies, or require users to perform laborious and error-prone
double entry. Often this integration requires the use of application programming interfaces (APIs) to both read
and update cross application data. With the built-in integration and connectivity services of SAP HANA Cloud
Platform, you can simplify how your applications connect, exchange data, and link processes with your
application landscape whether on-premise, in the cloud, or deployed across a hybrid landscape.
Service Options
SAP HANA Cloud Platform has three different subscription options depending on your needs: SAP HANA
Infrastructure Services, SAP HANA DBServices, and SAP HANA AppServices. Both SAP HANA Infrastructure
Services and SAP HANA DBServices allow for building HANA applications in the cloud leveraging native HANA
development technologies like HANA Extended Application Services XS engine and SAP River. You would
choose between SAP HANA Infrastructure Services and SAP HANA DBServices depending on if you only need
infrastructure to leverage your existing SAP HANA license, or if you need both infrastructure and an SAP HANA
license. SAP HANA AppServices builds upon these capabilities with additional application development
capabilities such as mobile, portal, analytics, and integration.

Data Integration
One key benefit to using SAP HANA Cloud Platform is the ability to leverage the built-in native SAP HANA
capabilitieswhether it is leveraging advanced predictive analytics and text mining capabilities or performing
native HANA development with HANA Extended Services XS engine and SAP River to deliver real-time insight
into your applications. In most cases, you will move data into the SAP HANA database from outside sources in
addition to persisting data that your application creates in order to take advantage of the HANA capabilities.
With SAP HANA Cloud Platform, data integration capabilities you can extract, transform, and load data into and
out of your HANA application with ease. An easy-to-use web-based tool is provided to configure and manage
the movement of data, which greatly simplifies the process.

Data Integration

Connectivity Service
When SAP HANA AppServices is used, SAP HANA Cloud Platform provides several additional components
for integration. These include (a) a connectivity service that consists of an API that application developers can
use to consume remote services, (b) an account-specific configuration for application connections to HTTP,
RFC, and mail destinations, and (c) a secure tunnel from the SAP HANA Cloud Platform application to the
customers on-premise network using the SAP HANA Cloud Connector. The SAP HANA Cloud Connector
allows you to selectively expose resources from your on-premise landscape to the SAP HANA Cloud Platform.
By using the connectivity service, you can simplify programmatic access to exchange data with other
applications using the HTTP, RFC and Mail protocols. Your application developers can leverage the
connectivity service to connect to remote applications using APIs without the complexity of securely accessing
systems outside of the firewall.
Connectivity Service

Complementary to the connectivity service is SAP Gateway, which can be used to provision easy-to-use web
services using the REST/OData standards from your back-end SAP systems, such as SAP CRM. These
services can be then be configured for HTTP access from the SAP HANA Cloud Platform by configuring an
HTTP destination with basic authentication, no authentication, or configured for single-sign-on, which assures
that the back-end service is authenticated and authorized by using the end-user logon credentials. Additionally
the HTTP destination can be deployed to the HANA Cloud Portal landscape for use in developing portal

applications. An example scenario that could use this connectivity is a site that contains a simple web form used
to collect sales leads that are then routed to SAP CRM.

Process Integration
In many cases, the application you build will work in concert with a set of applications either within your
landscape or with external parties such as business partners, either by receiving messages from other
applications to process or by sending messages to other applications as a result of application processing.
Available with SAP HANA AppServices, Premium Edition are the process integration capabilities of SAP HANA
Cloud Integration. This cloud-based integration platform allows you to flexibly orchestrate processes by
connecting your application to other applications, whether on-premise or in the cloud within your organization,
or outside your organization.
Integrations are graphically modeled, not hard coded, which simplifies the integration development and allows
for faster adaption when end-points or interfaces change. Integration content is stored in a content repository
that promotes reuse and governance. Rich libraries of adapters, such as SFTP, SOAP, IDoc, OData, and
SuccessFactors, ease the integration with other applications. Operations are eased with the built-in management
and monitoring capabilities such as message monitoring, audit and logging, high availability, advanced security
configurations, and secure key storage. Also available with subscriptions to SAP Cloud applications, such as
SuccessFactors BizX Talent Management and SAP Cloud for Customer, are prepackaged integration content
that can be reused thus lowering the cost of integration even further. When integrations need to be changed,
you can use the graphical modeling environment in SAP HANA Cloud Integration. This means that in most
cases, you will not need to modify your applications source code, as the application logic is separated and
loosely bound from the integration logicthus simplifying changes.
