Dear John Vinson:
It was suggested I contact you regarding possible unethical business activities I discovered
while serving on the Board of Directors as Vice President and Treasurer for the Wild Animal
Orphanage located in San Antonio, Texas.
I was a volunteer at the Wild Animal Orphanage for almost 11 years and I served on the
Board of Directors from October 2003 until January 7, 2006. In December 2005, I conducted an
internal investigation based on allegations made by office and animal care personnel. I also wanted
to investigate several incidents which I personally witnessed and found distressing.
In the course of my investigation I discovered very disturbing information filed in the Bexar
County District Clerks Recording department regarding the Wild Animal Orphanage directors. This
in turn, led me to speak with the local veterinarians listed on the Boards Advisory panel. Based on
my research, I concluded that the Wild Animal Orphanage was not operating in a legal and ethical
manner and the Board of Directors needed to be aware of the situation immediately.
I scheduled an emergency board meeting on January 7, 2006 to discuss my findings.
Unfortunately, the meeting did not go well. The Board was more interested in protecting its own
interests rather than correcting the current problems. I had no choice, at this point, but to resign from
the Board of Directors. An audio copy of the meeting is available.
I learned at the Board of Directors meeting, the office and animal care staff was directed to
sign a false statement regarding the Wild Animal Orphanages activities or lose their jobs. The staff
was also told if they spoke to either me or any outside persons about the Wild Animal Orphanage
activities, he or she would be immediately fired. At this time, the employees are afraid to speak out
because they have heard of former employees that were threatened with bodily harm if they spoke
out against the Wild Animal Orphanage.
It is my sincerely belief that the directors of the Wild Animal Orphanage are not operating in
a legal and ethical manner. It is my opinion they pose a significant risk to the animals that are
currently in their custody and pose a significant danger to the employees working at the site.
Please contact me at your earliest convenience so I can present you with the evidence that I
believe you will find of interest. Your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated. I can be
contacted at work (210) 335-2369, Monday Friday, from 8:00am 5:00pm. Thank you very much.
Sincerely,

K.M. Brunner
