Shelter Update
Even though we can not physically see anything happening as yet with the redevelopment of the Shelter and Clinic, its full steam
ahead behind the scenes. Plans to be finalised, architects, surveyor's, builders etc. etc. etc. to be selected. Most importantly making
sure our felines are going to have the least possible amount of disruption during the demolition and rebuilding.

Can you assist?

What is the most rewarding
thing about working at CPS?

We have teenagers, adults & seniors looking for their forever homes.

Its knowing that in some small

way, youre making a difference,
and giving hope to another life.

It would be wonderful if you would

assist us by getting the word out
there by sharing our new A3 size
flyer.

Do you have a special bond with

a particular cat?
I have a bit of a soft spot for
Shadow, he always greets me
so warmly (even when I dont
have food). And I definitely have
a bond with the senior cats.

If you can help, please email

members@catprotection.com.au or
ring the hostel on 9434 7155 and
we would be delighted to pop one
in the post to you.

What do you like best about

working at CPS?
The fact that I can earn a living
being around cats all day every
day, and the satisfaction that
brings.

Gabby 13yo
ID No (12) 180
Gabby is very sweet and very nice, like a little
old lady.
She can be a little bit stressy, and would love
to go to a home where its nice and quiet, and
the pace of life is gentle and placid.

Please note: Gabby does not like other cats

Ellie has been reunited with her owners after

missing for two years.
Her owners presumed the 18 year old cat was dead, after failing to
return to the family home for months. To fill the Ellie-shaped void in
their family, they got another cat, who will now have a new friend!
Local ranger brought Ellie to the Cat Protection Society, where staff
scanned the cat for a microchip. Because the microchip details
were up to date, staff were able to get in touch with the owners,
who were surprised and excited to hear that their beloved Ellie was
alive and coming home.
Because Ellies family are responsible cat owners, Ellie will be able
to live out the rest of her years in comfort and surrounded by love.

Whats your favourite work

memory?
I have a handful of pleasant
memories centred around cats
being adopted from my section.
You can get rather attached to
them but Im always more glad
than sad to see them go, as
theyre getting a home.

If I was a cat
Id be a British Shorthair and I
would make it my life's work to
destroy the myth that cats are
snobby and plotting to take over
the world. I would only take
over my suburb!

Where are they now!

A wonderful update on Frances & Assisi from The Human
After many years being very well cared for at the Cat Protection Society, Frances and Assisi found their fur-ever home in March.
We recently had a Q&A session with Frances, Assisi and The Human and this is what they had to say
Frances - The accommodation is very pleasant. Theres a comfy couch which becomes quite sunbathed in the afternoon. The Human has been calling me Fatty Fran so I maintain a fitness regime which involves chasing Assisi up and down the hallway. I find this is best done at 3.00 in
the morning when its quiet and there are few distractions. All-in-all The Human you provided has
proven most adequate. Now stop pointing that camera at me or Ill go and run under the couch.
Assisi also known as C.C.Life here is GREAT. The garden is TOTALLY AWESOME, I go out and
have a bit of a POKE AROUND in the MORNING and then come in for BREAKFAST. It took me a
COUPLE OF WEEKS to get used to the concept of WINDOWS and that you cant JUMP THROUGH
THEM when theyre SHUT. And going up and down STAIRS was weird but I OK now and dont
have to scale all of them in ONE LEAP. I get to sleep on a BED with The Human but I REFUSE to
get up before 6.00, especially now that were coming into WINTER. And theres TELEVISION with things MOVING ON IT. I watched a
great DOCUMENTARY the other week about BIRDS which I thought I could CATCH ONE EYE is never going to stop ME!
Yeah, I like it here.
The HumanIts been lovely to watch C.C. come into his own. Having lived the first three years of his life at CPS and not having
any experience with uneven surfaces, stairs or windows, his learning curve has been very steep.
And I know it was very mean of me, but I did laugh at his attempts to run through panes of glass
and try to work out how to get up and down the three steps from the house and into the garden.
He maintains order and keeps both Frances and me in our place.
Fatty Fran has been more circumspect and maintains her distance, but I have confidence that at
some point in the future shell come around. She even meowed at me the other day as I was putting the food out.
Thank you CPS, were one happy family!
With love from Fatty Fran, CC and The Human
