Well to be fair, this is a ramble. I've been rambling about it a bit lately. I d

Providing mis/information, offering vulnerability, and advancing an agenda. Brea

it's important to point out that cartoony type comics are pretty much all europe

out more realism is to make something more erotic

Yes, but I think it's more complicated than "cartoony vs realistic".
Digger, for instance, stars a cartoon wombat in a mostly serious fantasy story.
Works just fine.
Haven't read Cerebus the Aardvark, but from what I understand it similarly does
the "serious story starring a cartoony protagonist" thing.
It will be a little harder to get the audience to suspend their disbelief that m
ore zany-looking characters are having serious problems, but it's something that
can be overcome.

So yeah, you can tell a story like yours absolutely fine with simplified drawing
s. You'll just want to make sure they're of the sort that make the reader not ev
en realize what they're looking at isn't totally realistic. Try doing some abstr
act drawings and see just how much detail is necessary to get things across. Try
constructing people as geometric shapes and seeing how you can connect them tog
ether with as few lines as possible. Simplify your robots down as just the indiv
idual rigid parts, held together with simple joints that you can draw in a simpl

man I have had some pretty awesome dreams but most of them come off more like mo
vies or video games.. there was this one about ghosts coming in from a ghost dim
ension, unable to harm or even touch anything, but still wreaking havoc in all o
f society because they can't be stopped in any way so they just interrupt litera
lly everyone and everything everywhere with their irritating loud presence, and
the hero has to find a way to stop them.. and the whole game is making you think
it's just the early tutorial part, and you're gonna find a weapon that can harm
them.. . finally you do, and it still doesn't work. Then you discover they can'
t get back to their own world even if they want to, which makes their world a re
spite for us to flee to, if we empty theirs out first.
Yeah, it's not incredibly hard to draw or anything, it's just that "wait, I forg

when she was carrying around her sword because I gave it a fairly complex set o

Anonymous 2 hours ago No.73722291? >>73722316
Here is my pitch.
>Theres this girl knight named Mindy who lives in this kingdom who works for the
kings guards because her parents kicked her out for freeloading (she and all 3
of the main characters are 25 years old.).
>Mindy gets fired by the king for being to reckless after a dragon attack where
she killed the dragon when the other male knights got either bunt to a crisp or
ran away like chickens.
>Theres is also this shop keeper named Lily who is a magic user and is secretly
a cat girl as she always wares a hat & dress to cover her ears and tail because
of some people hate cat people, her shop almost got shut down because she can't
pay her rent on time but when Mindy and her meet they end up being BFFs and end
up saving her shop which also ends up being her house.
>Along side the 2 ladies there is a male freelance knight named Jacob who wonder
s around the land, being kicked out from a boarding house because he did not get
along with it's owner, he ends up finding Mindy & Lily and ends up living with
them as the money he brought in was enough to save Lily's business/house.
>First story plot involves Mindy finding a reward poster for killing a bigger dr
agon who happens to be the head dragon of the dragon she killed when she was sti
ll working for the king, she kills the head dragon only to have the king take al
l of the money to repair all of the damages caused by the last dragon she killed
.

What's wrong with having it in a medieval fantasy?
What are you trying to achieve by setting it in a modern setting?

Overdone, plus that cake is handled by Is It Wrong To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon
, plus there is also Harpy Gee as well so my idea needs to stand out.
The modern setting has been tossed out for a future setting.

A future setting is better than a modern one because people have less preconcept
ions of "things work like this" but if you want to stand out, I'd advise revisin
g your story rather than just cludging a medieval fantasy parody plot into a fut
uristic setting. It's a rather poor fit at present.

Hate that people use this as a reason not to use something. Just because you mak
e your thing different does not make it inherently better than the thing that is
overdone. Just focus on characters/narrative rather than a gimmick.

Personally I'd just go with a generic fantasy setting because it's an incredibly
loose genre that people never really seem to get tired of - maybe something bas
ed on feudal Africa or Asia rather than Europe if I want to look memorable.
Or did you want my opinion on how to adapt it for a futuristic setting?

I stick to Europe as it's set in Ireland.

Lets hear it.

K.
First off, what exactly is a "knight" in this future setting? A mech pilot? A su
per soldier wearing power armor? It seems unlikely that a guy on a horse with a
long pointy stick is the best way to deal with a giant fire-breathing serpent in
the 25th century or whenever this is happening. Even with modern tech, you'd ex
pect to send in a gunship helicopter or something. Whatever the knight's exact g
ear is, it's gonna seem strange and need explaining that the military lets her j
ust keep it after they fire her - imagine a modern day fighter pilot getting to
keep their jet after they retire? Shit, there's nowhere in the world where it's
even legal for a private person to own that kind of stuff.
Second, the king is kind of incongruous with a more developed setting - having t
he king interact personally with his elite troops is a convention carried over t
o fantasy from stuff like the Song of Roland or the Arthurian cycle, where the k
ing knows his elite soldiers personally because he's also the head of the milita
ry. That's not even going into the issues of how differently a monarchy seems to
the reader when it's not in a context of "oh, they just haven't come up with de
mocracy yet". I'd suggest having the kingdom be a republic, and having the MC em
barrass and get fired by someone within the military.
Cat girl works as-is. Maybe have cat people be the result of genetic engineering
?
Free lance knight is gonna run into some similar problems - what kind of person
has access to the supply network required to keep himself stocked in mech fuel,
repairs, ammunition or whatever without being affiliated with some larger organi
zation? "PMC" has a very different ethical ring to it than "free-lance knight" d
oes.
Reward/bounty posters, again, are more of a lawless area thing - suitable for th
e wild west, or a fantasy setting, but really out of place in most modern contex
ts where the government is stable. I can't think of how to fix that.

Just do it. when you create a part of the world expand upon it. for example in m
y comic there's a character who uses a unique fighting style that originated fro
m her pacifist ancestors culture. They'd shift between weights to create ripples
in water and dance on them without the water becoming too chaotic. When her peo
ple were dragged into race war an unrefined version of it was created to out fig
ht the far superior ironblood race. however after the decline of her people it f
aded into obscurity until the age of the freelancer at which point a prominant s
urvivor of her race adopted and refined it. After two generations of clones from
that survivor the character perfects the fighting style and teaches it.

How does it being a modern setting contribute to the comedy?

There isn't one. What are you having trouble with?
