the OS X desktop operating system and iOS mobile operating system. It offers
online cloud backup of calendars using Apple's iCloud service, or can synchronise
with other calendar services, including Google Calendar and Microsoft Exchange
Server.

Preview is the image viewer and PDF viewer of the OS X operating system; it
enables users to view and print digital images and Portable Document Format (PDF)
files. Like Mac OS X itself, it originated in NeXTSTEP by NeXT. operating system.

iBooks is an e-book application by Apple Inc. for its iOS and OS X operating systems
and devices.

System Preferences is an application included with the OS X operating system that


allows users to modify various system settings which are divided into separate

preference panes.
Calculator is a basic calculator application made by Apple Inc. and bundled with
Mac OS X. It has three modes: basic, scientific, and programmer. Basic includes a
number pad, buttons for adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing, as well as
memory keys. Scientific mode supports exponents and trigonometric functions, and
programmer mode gives the user access to more options related to computer
programming.

Safari is a web browser developed by Apple Inc. included with the OS X and iOS

operating systems.
Dictionary is an application developed by Apple Inc. as a part of OS X. The
application provides definitions and synonyms from various dictionaries, Wikipedia
articles and a glossary of Apple-related terms.

Mission Control, formerly Expos, is a feature of the OS X operating system.


Mission Control allows a user to quickly locate an open window, quickly hide all
windows and show the desktop, and to manage windows across multiple monitors
or virtual desktops.

set of related protocols for voice over IP (VoIP) developed by Apple Inc..

Game Center is an online multiplayer social gaming network released by Apple Inc.
It allows users to invite friends to play a game, start a multiplayer game through
matchmaking, track their achievements, and compare their high scores on a leader
board.

Launchpad is an application launcher developed by Apple Inc., and introduced in


Mac OS X Lion. A labeled icon represents each application listed in Launchpad.

Mail (also known as Apple Mail or Mail.app) is an email client included with the
operating systems OS X and iOS by Apple. Originally developed by NeXT as
NeXTMail, a part of their NeXTSTEP operating system, it eventually became Mail
after Apple's acquisition of NeXT.

Messages application replaced iChat as the native OS X instant messaging client


with the release of OS X Mountain Lion in July 2012. While it inherits the majority of
iChat's features, Messages also brings support for iMessage, Apple's messaging

service for iOS, as well as FaceTime integration.


Notes application uses a similar interface on iOS and OS X, with a textured paper
background for notes and light yellow icons, suggesting pencil or crayon. Until 2013,
both applications used a strongly skeuomorphic interface, with a lined paper design;
the Mountain Lion version placed this inside a leather folder. This design was
replaced in OS X Mavericks and iOS 7.

Reminders is a component of iOS and OS X that allows users to set notifications


for themselves and create lists. It was a new feature in iOS 5 and OS X 10.8
"Mountain Lion". It can sync data between iOS and OS X through iCloud.

TextEdit is a simple, open source word processor and text editor, first featured in
NeXT's NeXTSTEP and OpenStep.

Time Machine is a backup software application distributed with the Apple OS X


computer operating system. The software is designed to work with the Time
Capsule storage product, as well as other internal and external disk drives.
