AR Meeting Notes: February 9, 2010

• March 4 Schools. This year, instead of rallying at the capitol, AEA is asking
local unions to show their support for schools in their own communities. CEA
will be renting the large ramada outside Tumbleweed Recreation Center on
March 4th from 4-6 p.m., and we are inviting any parents, teachers, students,
and friends to attend. This will be our opportunity to get the word out
about what is happening with budget cuts and the effects on our
schools and classrooms. We are asking every teacher to wear a black
shirt that day. CEA has purchased 100 black March 4 Schools shirts,
and the first 50 women/50 men to show up at the event will receive
them for free! This is an opportunity to get people asking questions
and opening up conversations about what is happening to our
schools. We are trying to make this a huge showing where we can
show our support for schools.

• California Casualty representative Shelby Lister visited us. California Casualty

provides free quotes for members, and many people have reported great
discounts.

• AEA Vice-President candidate Joe Thomas visited us to present his ideas and
ask for support and your vote. Visit stronglocals.org or email him at
joethomas@nobl.net for more information.
