Getting started
Introduction Gii thiu
Each unit of the Language for Teaching course has two parts: General English and
English for the Teacher. In the General English part, you will follow an online selfstudy course called Touchstone produced by Cambridge University Press. The
course will help you to improve your general English to B1 level on the Common
European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). You will do activities to
improve your listening, reading, speaking and writing and you will practise vocabulary
and grammar.
We recommend that you work through the General English content of each unit first,
followed by the English for the Teacher activities. When you have completed both
parts of Module 1 Unit 1 move on to Module 1 Unit 2 and complete both parts of that
unit. Follow the course in the order the units are presented and work through each
unit of each module: Module 1, Module 2 then Module 3.
After working through the General English content and English for the Teacher
activities there is a test for you to see what you have learned.

vin hon thnh c hai phn Unit 1 ca Module 1, gio vin s chuyn qua hc Unit 2 ca
Module 1 cho c hai phn. Hc vin hc cc kha hc theo trnh t tng bi hc (Unit), v
theo th t cc Module 1, 2, 3.

Logging in ng nhp
1. To start the course, you need to log in. The best browsers to use for this course
are Google Chrome or Firefox. To log in go to:
http://teachercourses.cambridgeenglish.org

2. Enter the Username and Password in the Login box on the right side of the
page. Your Username and Password for the Language for Teaching course are
in the email you were sent when you were registered for the course.

3. Tick () Remember username so that your computer can remember your

username the next time you log in. Only do this if you are using a computer you

4. Choose Login to go to the Welcome page of the course.

Access. This will take you to the Introduction page.

The Introduction page has three main parts: Introduction, Navigation and
Calendar.

The Introduction part of the page gives information about the course and tells you
about the modules and the units. There are also links to:

example, going from Unit 1 to Unit 2 or for going to the next activity.

Course overview Tng qut v kha hc

There are two parts to each unit of the course:

General English Ting Anh tng qut

In this part of the course you will work on your general English so that you can
improve it to B1 level on the CEFR. You can choose how much of this course you
want to follow there are up to 100 hours of study available.

English for the Teacher Ting Anh ging dy

In this part of the course you will learn language you can use in the classroom and
language you can use with other teachers. This part of the course is about 15 hours
work.

Course content Ni dung kha hc

The course has three modules:
Module 1 Language for the classroom. This module teaches language you
can use when different things happen in class.
Module 2 Language for teacherstudent communication. This module
teaches language you can use when talking to students in class.

 Module 3 Language for the professional. This module teaches language

you can use when talking to other teachers outside the classroom.

Each module has five units.

Each unit begins with General English content followed by 10 English for the
Teacher activities.

Each unit follows the same plan. First the General English content:
Choose the General English material which links to the Cambridge Learning
Management System (LMS).
After working through the content there is a test for you to see what you have
learned.

After the General English content there are the English for the Teacher
units, which usually have the following activities:

Lead-in to help you to think about the topic of the unit.
Vocabulary to teach vocabulary that you will need for the unit.
Presentation to present examples of the language.
Clarification to explain the meaning and forms of the

Controlled practice to provide practice of the forms, meaning
and pronunciation of the language.
Pronunciation practice to provide practice of the
pronunciation of the language.

2. Choose the Language for Teaching B1 course under Course Access on the
Welcome page. This will take you to the Introduction page of the course.

3. Read the information and watch the videos for getting started. Read Module 1
Introduction on the Introduction page.

Starting the General English part of the course

1. When you are ready to start, you should begin with the General English part of
the course. Go down the Navigation menu and choose Language for Teaching
B1 Module 1 Unit 1.

2. Choose General English for Module 1 Unit 1 either from the Introduction part of
the page or the Navigation part of the page.

3. Watch the video about the General English part of the course by choosing
Introduction Video General English for Module 1 Unit 1.

4. When you are ready to start working through the General English content,
choose General English materials Link to Cambridge LMS.

5. Log in by entering the Username and Password you were sent for the General
English part of the course, then choose Login.

6. You will see the Cambridge LMS homepage. Choose the link under Self-study
to go to the dashboard.

learned choose Tests from the Course content page.

Then choose Unit 1: Test.

When you have completed the Unit 1 test for the General English part, return to the
Language for Teaching Introduction page. Use the back arrow or log in again at
http://teachercourses.cambridgeenglish.org and start the English for the Teacher
activities.
When you have finished Module 1 Unit 1 go on to Module 1 Unit 2.

2. Begin with Module 1 Unit 1 Activity 1. There are two ways that you can start
Activity 1:

a) Choose Language for Teaching Module 1 Unit 1 from the list on the left
in the Navigation part of the Introduction page. Then choose Activity 1 from
the list of activities.

3. If your answer is correct, a message tells you that your answer is correct and
you can choose Continue to go on to the next question or activity.

5. When you finish the activity you see the Results page. This has your score
and you can choose Review Quiz to check your answers.

Finishing activities and going to the next activity

1. When you finish an activity, and have finished checking your answers, choose
Exit Activity or End Activity to finish. This will take you back to the
Introduction page.

Going back to an activity

Quay tr li phn bi tp
You can do the activities as many times as you want to or you may want to stop
doing an activity and to finish it later. When you go back to an activity that you did
before, or that you started before, you will see a message asking Would you like to
resume where you left off? If you want to do (resume) the activity from the part
you exited, choose Yes and you will enter the activity where you stopped it before. If
you want to start the activity again, choose No. This will take you to the start of the
activity.
