How to do the assessment activity:


It may be useful to refer to another resource called Learning About Money
Banking Skills, and Spending Plans in which learners are required to write
numbers and words etc. when developing money handling skills.
You will need:

1. Give each learner Assessment Activity 7.A and a pencil. Ask them to
follow the instructions and complete it.

Yes if they completed the assessment activity with less than
two mistakes.
No if not, then use the following activities to help the learner
grasp this concept.

Activity 1: Matching numbers and words


You will need:
Flash card set for
numbers and words
from 1$2.00 OR
Use a purchased set
of Money Match Me
cards by TREND
enterprises, Inc.
(See Introduction for
more details.)

How to do the activity:


1.

Give the learner eight cards eacha set of numbered cards and a set
of matching word cards. Ask the learner to match them up.

2.

Continue to give sets of eight cards, until the learner can match a set
correctly.

3.

For further practice give the learner Activity 7.1a and Activity 7.1b
for additional practice.

Activity 4: Everyday tasks


How to do the activity:
1.

Discuss with the learners how they need to use the skills of
writing numbers and money in their daily lives. For example, do
they need to write a cheque to pay their rent? Do they need to
track their expenses using a Transaction Record book or sorting
out their income and expenses?
If these are skills that are needed then refer to the Learning
About Money series called Banking Skills and also the series on
Spending Plans for additional learning activities.
