To become a teacher is not really my dream at first. To be honest, most of my friends

think that being a teacher would be a last resort for them. For, being a teacher is something
that is not very clever to make because I was from Sekolah Berasrama Penuh(SBP). Most of
them were already born in a pot of gold and they think that most of their success did not
come from their teacher. Affected by this ill thought, though I was not born in a pot of gold, I
decided to not to become a teacher even deep in my heart I always have that dream of
becoming an English. However, during my fourth year in secondary school, there was a
teacher that made me to think of becoming a teacher. She was a very nice lady and cheerful
at the same time. She is Rapidah binti Omar. We called her Teacher Rapid. She was a Guru
Cemerlang Bahasa Inggeris at that school. They way she taught English was very awesome
and I was mesmerized with her lesson every time she entered my class especially during the
literature class. It was like she put her life into the lesson and everybody paid their full
attention during the class. She was very live and cheerful during the class but at the same
time she managed to maintain her professionalism as a teacher. Because of her, then I
decided that no matter what my friend would think of me, I want to be a teacher. An English
teacher to be more specific. However, I am not planning to stop at being a teacher. I am
planning on becoming more than that because I love challenges and I do not like to sit at
one place. There is a passage that I can use to become more than a teacher is Pensyarah
Cemerlang.
The first thing that will be happening to me after this, after five and a half years od
study majoring in English as Second Language, I will graduate from the Institut Pendidikan
Guru Malaysia , Kampus Pendidikan Teknik at the age of 24. Then, I will be posted to a
school, which I hope is a cluster school where the odds of being a Guru Cemerlang is high
as I am planning to be a Guru Cemerlang Bahasa Inggeris at that school. To be in that
position I need to be very successful in bringing up the school potential in English. Before, I
go any further, before I get the title of Guru Cemerlang in Bahasa Inggeris, I need to be
confirmed as a real teacher and only then I will be allowed to apply as Guru Cemerlang. My
target is to be confirmed a real teacher is within a year. Sometimes, for some cases, it took
three years for a teacher to be confirmed as a real teacher as in the case, the teacher did
something that irritated the headmaster. So, in order to make sure this kind of tragedy will
not happened to me, I need to make sure that, I will show full commitment towards all the
school activities even if I have to sacrifice my leisure time so that the headmaster will see me
doing all those work and he will not hesitate to fasten the process of confirming my position.
Everything that the school ask me to do I will try to do it within the time given expect if it is

something beyond my ability. If, I were to be confirmed within a year, then, I will be a
confirmed teacher at the age of 25 years old.
As I am confirmed, I am planning to be Guru Cemerlang in English. The main
requirement for someone to be a Guru Cemerlang is, they need to perform three years in a
row in the subject that they are planning to be the Guru Cemerlang. As for me, English is my
target. So, one of the channels that can I can use to assure my performance in English is by
becoming the Head of English Language Panel. To be the head of the panel, I need to be an
English teacher that shows affection towards what I am teaching to my students. I will be
very creative and very assertive during my class so that my pupils will fall in love with the
subject. As they fall in love in with the subject, they will perform in English. This will help to
bring up the English in the school as they are performing very well in it. So, from there, I
hope that the headmaster will see me as someone who can be hoped, and then he will
appoint me as the Head of English Language Panel within the first year my position have
been confirmed at the age of 26 years old. This position though it brings no extra income,
will give lots of benefits to me because, as the head of the panel, I will have the privilege to
attend lot of courses regarding the English Subject. From all of those courses, I will learn lots
of new techniques and skill and any development regarding English subject. I will apply all
those new knowledge that I get from those courses in my teaching and I will encourage and
make sure that the entire English teacher in my school follows my footstep. To ensure that
they are following my advice, I will do spot-check randomly to any English class. From there,
I can make sure they will apply the new information in their teaching. As all of the teachers
all applying the new things, I hope the English subject will gain an improvement and that will
be a proof of my success in English. I will also volunteering myself for every English
competition held for the students if possible. Another requirement to be a Guru Cemerlang is
I need to have a clean record within those three years. So I will try to constraint myself from
doing any trouble with the school or anyone from the school. By doing this, I will have a
clean slate record which clearly needed for me to become a Guru Cemerlang.
As I manage to complete all the requirement to be a Guru Cemerlang in English, I will
apply for the title. The reason I am applying for the title because I am planning on having the
Hadiah Latihan Persekutuan (HLP) which is a scholarship for me to further my study in
Master in English Literature. One of the requirement to get the HLP is having the Anugerah
Perkhidmatan Cemerlang. Luckily, Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang will come together
with the title Guru Cemerlang. As my application succeed and I manage to get the title Guru
Cemerlang In Bahasa Inggeris, I will apply directly for the HLP. Other than that, the
requirements are, I must not be more than 40 years old, I must have a clean record with the
JPN and I have declare my assets. All of these requirement are something that can be done

early. The reasons why I want to apply for HLP is because there is another benefit that come
with it. First I do not need to pay for my study, because the HLP itself is actually a
scholarship that I can use to pay for my study. Other than that, I can apply for the leaves with
the salary. By having this HLP, I will still enjoy my salary even though I am not teaching at
schools.
When my application succeed, I wilI be calling for an interview and will pass the
interview at the age of 26. Then I will attend short course for a month and a half in Institut
Tadbiran Awam Negara (INTAN). During this course, I will attend lots of talks and group
discussion and exam. At the same time I also need to apply for any universities that I am
planning to further my studies in Master in English Literature. From my research I would
choose International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) because it has good record in
producing Master in English Literature undergraduate. After finishing the course, I will further
my study in master in IIUM. However, I will focus my study there so that I would get a pass
and graduate with flying colours. I will be studying for about two years and build a good
rapport with everybody in my class so that I will have great environment to focus on my
study.
When I graduate in master at the age of 29, I will apply to be a lecturer in Institut
Pendidikan Guru Malaysia. By the time I want to apply for the position, I will automatically
fulfil the requirement to a lecturer in IPGM which is, I need to in DG41 for 5 years which I get
since I was 24. Other than that , the requirements that I need to fulfil are, having masters in
related course, have been serve in educational field for 3 years, and had the experiences in
administration at schools which I manage to get by becoming the Head of English Language
Panel. All these requirements are already fulfil at that time. Then, I will be called for the
position I will be teaching at IPGM at the age of 29. Driven by my addiction towards
knowledge, I would not stop here. I am planning on furthering my study in Doctor of
Philisophy (Phd) in English Literature. However, I am not going to use my own money but I
will strive for another scholarship to further my study. In order to get the scholarship, I need
to have at least one Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (APH) as a lecturer and I will get
the title Pensyarah Cemerlang Jabatan Bahasa. So what am I going to do to get the APH is,
I need to really focus on my lecture and students so that they could perform in every aspect
in the course. These include assignment, projects, exams, practicums and action
researches. One of the way that I can use by being a helpful lecturer for the pupils by
attending the lecture and provide them with everything that my students need to have where
they are becoming the teachers. When, the result and the performance of my subject are
increasing, that could be the proof that I am performing very well in IPGM. Once again, after

three years of productive years and I get the title Pensyarah Cemerlang, I will apply for the
HLP but this time for Phd.
Once again, after my application for APH at the age of 32 is success, I will attend an
interview and I will pass. Then I will attend another course in INTAN for 3 months and have
the same things again but this time I need to attend a course in Biro Tatanegara for a week
as a preparation for me to further my study overseas as I am planning to further my study
oversea. I am planning to do my Phd at University of Edinburgh, Scotland. During the course
at BTN, we will have lots of group discussion, talks and group discussions to help us have a
gist about what we are going to face at overseas later.
When my application success, I will further my study at University of Edinburgh for 3
years. There, I will focus on my study and will collect as many knowledge as I can to be use
with my students later. Then after three years overseas, I will come back to Malaysia with a
Phd in my hand at the age of 35. Then only I will get married.
Then I will serve back in IPGM for another more years. At the age of 37, I will be
appointed as the Head of Department in Language. There are many innovations that I want
introduce to the English Language lecturers. I will keep on repeating this step again and
again until I retire at the age of 60 so that I will get the title Pensyarah Cemerlang again and
again. I think it would be possible for me to make an early retirement because I have this
condition of being addicted to knowledge and I feel the need to share them with my
colleagues and students. I think it will be a great loss if I am decided to make an early
retirement. This is the entire plan that I manage to think about what I am going to do in the
future. However, as human we are only able to plan and at the end, God is the best planner.
