Management

MASTERCLASS GUIDELINES
1. Each student must follow the given group that they are assign to. Strictly NO CHANGE
of group is permitted for any reason. If a student does not make it to the masterclass, no
replacement will be given.
2. ALL students must arrive by 7:45pm. Masterclass will begin strictly on time at 8:00pm.
Late comers will not be allowed in.
3. Due to the number of students in each group, only the names in the group shall be
permitted in the room. Parents or guardian who wish to sit in will need to consult the
management if there is available space. We do not guarantee depending upon turn up
of the day.
4. Attendance will be taken at 7:45pm. We will begin vocal warm up at 8:00pm sharp.
Bring water if you need but NO SWEET drinks allowed in the studio.
5. Students are required to dress appropriately to a group class. No shorts and singlet
permitted.
6. KINDLY NOTE THAT MASTERCLASS IS COMPULSORIZED IN YOUR VOCAL
PACKAGE AND MAY NOT BE SUBSTITUTED FOR A PRIVATE SESSION.

Casey pursued his Bachelors Degree at the Cultural Center University of Malaya in Kuala
Lumpur majoring in Clarinet while minoring the Flute. Casey furthered his studies at The
College of Music, Mahidol University, Thailand where he obtained a Masters Degree in
Clarinet Performance.
During his Pre-University years Casey studied Clarinet briefly with Bohari Sahlan and
Raymond Kong. While studying at the Cultural Center University Malaya, Casey studied
the clarinet under the tutelage of Philip Arkinstall from the Malaysian Philharmonic
Orchestra. As a performance student, Casey minored the Flute and Piccolo under the
tutelage of Sonia Croucher from the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. While at the
Masters Degree level, Casey then furthered his clarinet studies with Cassandra FoxPercival and Yos Vaneesorn. Casey also attended occasional lessons and masterclasses
with Dmitri Ashkenazy (Concert Soloist & Recording Artist), Ricardo Morales (Philadelphia
Philharmonic Orchestra) , Charlie Suriyakham (US Coastguard Band), Cheryl Melfi (Prof.
of Clarinet, Mahidol University) and Craig Wernick (Sydney Symphony Orchestra).
As an ensemble player, Casey was in the first batch of "High Winds" ensemble player
under the direction of Joost Flach. Casey is part of The Imperial Trio in Bangkok, Thailand
playing along side with Marcin Swawelsky (Poland) and Eri Higashide (Japan). He also
appeared in several MPO Encounter Series concert at the Dewan Filharmonic Petronas
performing Mozart's Clarinet Concerto KV622 conducted by Gergaly Sugar (MPO), Mozart
Clarinet Quintet & kegelstadt Trio with the Enconter Ensemble. Casey has also played in
several clarinet choirs and ensemble including 4Reeds Clarinet Quartet and Mahidol
University Clarinet Choir. Casey also played in the accompanying ensemble for the
musical Pygmalion.
Casey's orchestral experience started out with the appointment as conductor of the Kolej
Yayasan Saad Orchestra (1998) and Band Director of St. Francis' Institution Military Band
(1998). Upon relocating himself to Kuala Lumpur, Casey played with the Kuala Lumpur
Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Dr. Ota. Casey was also appointed as
assistant conductor of the University Malaya Symphony Orchestra (2004) and conductor of
the University Malaya Symphonic Band (2004). In the same year, Casey was appointed as
band Director for the Soka Gakkai Fei Yang Wind Orchestra and the Sultan Alam Shah
Wind Orchestra. While in Thailand, Casey was appointed a full time position with the
Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra in 2007 and successfully completed 2 full years season
and a performance at the Tokyo Opera City, Japan.
As a Singer and Musical Director, Casey sang in the National Choir while performing Carl
Orf's Carmina Burana and several other choral works. Casey was the musical director for
SHOUT! The Mod Musical, Some Enchanted Evening, Dreamgirls, Rent and other
Broadway Musicals and concert recitals. As a soloist, Casey has been invited to perform in
many recitals which includes a special duo with classical guitar at the International Guitar
Festival, Thailand (2008). He also played the Saxophone in a gamelan concert with

Rhythm In Bronze Gamelan Ensemble (2004). Casey has recently performed in a


masterclass in Melbourne, Australia singing several selections from the Broadway
Musicals. Casey's vast experience in the performing arts world has led him to several
teaching, tutoring and lecturing positions at various institutions including The University of
Malaya, UiTM, UCSI, Bangkok International School and several other schools and
colleges.
In addition to the performance and directing positions, Casey is often invited as guest
speaker and clinician for Broadway Musicals, Workshops and Band Clinics all over the
country and internationally. Casey is currently a lecturer at ASWARA with specialization in
Musical Theater. Casey is currently the Managing Director and Executive Producer at
Broadway Academy, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
