A – No, one of tham dropped out just in the beggining;

B – No, the biggest challenge she faced was that in MIT the
economig aproach was much more theorical and abstract.

When she entered the economic´s market, there was no

many wemen, so she was one of the first. The thinks she
was bennefited because maybe MIT was taking a chance
leting her join.

Being a woman bennefited her by atracting other´s

atentions on her direction.

A - Most of tham had PHD and the great majority of tham

had been cheer leaders.

B – She explains by saying that that wemen had a

competitive spirit. Since they couldn´t find a team or
competitive sport to take part, they decided by being cheer
leaders to feel part of the team.

Wemen as Military Pilots

Since 2004, wemen ar been accepted in Brazilian Air

Force Academy to the Military Pilot´s Course. Is that good or
bad or are just wemen taking their place in the profession?

Well, first of all, to be a pilot, there´s almost no

difference if you are a man or a woman.When you´re flying
people won´t see you and will only know your sex when you
speak something. But if you´re a military pilot, things
became quickly different.

Since you´re military, It implies that you won´t fly in

an standard way. You´ll be trained to take your plane to the
limit and go there with him. You´ll work with very severe
psicologial pressure, very hard climatological conditions and
with few comfort and help. But untill here, what´s the
difference between wemen and men?

Well; first of all, since wemen in the BrAf ACADEMY is a

“new thing”, It is a major subject. Is allways on TV and
news. A military place is mostly a male place (full of men) a
moman is allways in vogue even if she´s only a normal
professional; just the fact of her to be a woman makes her
someone special.

So after all, the problem is not “wemen to join the air

force”, but the way the air force receives tham. If they were
received like everyone without any change in the pilot´s
formation, there would be no problem but, in fact, what
happened was that MEN decided to make the course easier
for tham so more wemen could graduate, even those who
are not that good professionals as military pilot.

The phylical exam is different, the way wemen are

punished is also different, so the way they are greeded.
These are just a few examples. So in the end you´ll have
weak military pilots not because wemen are weak, but
because MEN who comands the air force formed them weak
just to be sure that a greater number could graduate.
