CHRISTIAN EDUCATION Christian education series on justice: For the first three Sundays in October, the adult Christian education class will be exploring the concept of justice in the Bible. If you would like to join the discussion, we
will be in the Saguaro room from 10 am - 11 am.
YOU ARE INVITED Friday, October 2, 2015 at 6:30pm. Be a part of an exciting event celebrating the PAST and the
FUTURE of Saguaro Christian Church. An endowment fund is being established through the Christian Church Foundation to honor the legacy of Pastoral Excellence of former Senior Ministers of Saguaro Christian Church. All former
Senior Ministers will be with us for this evening of celebration except our first pastor, Rev. Ray Hite, and he looks
forward to being with us very soon. We will honor the ministry of Rev. Dr. Clayton Gooden, Rev. Dr. Denny Williams, Rev. Deborah Morgan-Stokes, and Rev. Bill Dunbar with a program in the Sanctuary at 6:30pm. A reception
will follow on the patio with time to visit with the honorees and with each other. (Our former pastors from out of
town will have to leave on Saturday and they are looking forward to seeing you!) More information will be available
about this fund, but you won't want to miss this celebration of the gifts and leadership of our former pastors.
TUCSON PRIDE Every year, Saguaro participates in the Pride Parade and the Pride in the Desert festival. If you would
like to walk with us in the parade on Saturday, October 10 from 6 pm - 7 pm, please let Shelly know. If you would
like to sit at Saguaro's booth for an hour or two at Pride in the Desert on Saturday, October 17, again, let Shelly
know. We will be doing what we did last year - painting faces and having tons of fun!
CHI RHO & CYF RETREATS Saturday, October 24 Sunday, October 25, Saguaro will be hosting the youth retreats.
We are in need of some folks willing to assist with providing and serving meals and snacks for these groups. Meals
include lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. Snack will be Saturday night. Meals are reimbursable through the Region. Please see Laurie Cleveland or call or email the church office for more detailed information.
REGISTRATION AVAILABLE for Chi Rho and CYF Retreats! Retreats will both be here at Saguaro October 24-25.
Cost is $25. Please turn your forms into the church office by October 19.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS MINUTES If you would like minutes from any SCC Board of Directors meeting, they are available through the office as the Board makes sends them in. Please call or email Laurie Cleveland and she will email
or print a copy for you.
TRUNK OR TREAT Come join us Saturday, October 31 from 6-8pm for Trunk or Treat! We need volunteers and
trunks, trunks, trunks! Last year we had at least 400 visitors from our community enjoy safe trick or treating, food ,
games and a bounce house. Lets have a great time again!
CROP WALK This years Crop Walk to Fight Hunger will be on Sunday afternoon, November 1st. The need is abundantly clear especially this year with refugees in Europe and homeless and hunger in our own community. As Saguaro focuses our Mission to confront these issues, the Crop Walk is a way to demonstrate your resolve to walk and
raise money to support the efforts of Church World Services and local Charities in Servicing the need. As the Pope
just said, the yard stick that we use to measure others, is the yardstick that measures us as well.
