CHAPTER THIRTY FIVE (11Q19 Temple Scroll Columns 45-48; 11Q20 Columns 12-13; Deuteronomy 23:18)

1And the man who has had a nocturnal emission shall not enter the whole temple until three days have passed. 2 He
shall wash his clothes and shall bathe on the first day and on the third day he shall wash his clothes and bathe; and
after the sun has set he shall enter he shall enter the temple. 3 And they shall not enter my temple with their soiled
impurity and defile it. 4And a man who lies with his wife and has an ejaculation, for three days he shall not enter the
entirety of the temple precinct in which I shall cause my name to dwell. 5 No blind person shall enter it all their days,
and they shall not defile the precinct in whose midst I dwell, because I, Yeuweh, dwell in the midst of the sons of
Israel for ever and always. 6 Every man who purifies himself from his discharge shall count for himself seven days
for his purification. 7And he shall wash on the seventh day his clothes and bathe his body completely in living water.
Afterwards he shall enter the precinct of the temple. 8And anyone who is impure through contact with a corpse shall
not enter it until they have purified themselves. 9 And no leper or infected person shall enter it until they have
purified themselves: and when he has purified himself, then he shall offer the purification offering for himself 10 And if
a priest is a leper, he shall be isolated until he is unclean and he may not enter the temple nor may he eat holy food.
11When the sun sets on the eighth day he may eat some holy food and may enter the temple. 12 A trader, shall not enter
the temple precincts to buy or sell anything in My temple; 13A seeking after of copper, silver, and gold, shall not occur
there. 14Everything in My temple is to be set apart for me, for this reason you shall not buy or sell in it or seek to use it for
your riches. 15Thou shalt not bring the hire of a whore, or the price of a dog, into the temple of Yeuweh your Supreme for
any vow: for even both these are abomination unto me.16No No dog shall be allowed to to enter my precinct because they
may eat some of the holy offerings in the sanctuary.17You are not to raise chickens in the courtyards or in any part of the
holy place. 18No unclean bird is to sit upon my temple so you must make spikes on the court's wall and on the roofs of
the gates which lead to the outer courtyard, and any unclean bird shall not be able to be in the middle of my temple for
ever and for all the days, for I dwell in their midst. 19And you shall make a platform around the outer courtyard,
fourteen cubits wide, corresponding to the openings of all the gates; and you shall make twelve steps for it, upon
which the sons of Israel will ascend to enter my temple. 20 And you shall make a trench around the temple, one
hundred cubits wide, which will separate the holy temple from the city, and they will not enter suddenly my temple
and will not defile it. 21 And they shall sanctify my temple and they shall be afraid of my temple, for I dwell in their
midst. 22 And you shall make latrines for them outside the city where they shall go, outside, to the northwest of the
city: houses with beams and pits in their midst into which excrement shall drop and shall not be visible for anyone, at
a distance from the city of three thousand cubits. 23You shall make three places to the east of t he city separate from
each other, to which shall come the lepers and those afflicted with a discharge and the men who have a discharge of
semen far from the city three thousand cubits. 24 And all their cities are to be pure none shall dwell in them of those who
are unclean with a matter of discharge and skin disease. 25Any man who has a seminal discharge or a woman who has a
vaginal discharge must not go into the sanctuary until they have been purified from their discharge.26 A woman who has
given birth must not enter into the sanctuary until she has been purified from her childbirth. 27 If she has given birth to a
male child, the time of her purification shall be forty days. 28If she has given birth to a female child, the time of her
purification shall be eighty days. 29 If you listen to what I am telling you, and isolate those who have a prolonged
uncleanness from your cites, and the unclean from my sanctuary, then you will be blessed and you will have no diseases
amongst you and you will lead down and not be lead down by others. 30 And so you will be the head and not the tail.
31And thus their cities will be pure, so that I may cause my name to dwell among them for ever. 32 And the precinct
which I will sanctify to make dwell my name and my temple within it shall be holy and shall be clean from any case
of whatever impurity with which they could be defiled. 33Everything that there is in it shall be pure and everything
that goes into it shall be pure: wine, and oil, and all food, and all drink shall be pure. 34 All the hides of pure animal
which they slaughter in their cities they shall not bring into it. 35 For in their cities they shall make with these
utensils for all their needs, but they shall not bring them into the precinct of my temple. 36For their purity shall be
like that of their flesh, and they shall not defile the precinct within which I make dwell my name and my temple. 37
Rather with the hides which they sacrifice in the temple with these they shall bring into the precinct of my temple
their wine, their oil and all their food. 38 And they shall not defile my temple with the hides of their profane
slaughtering which they slaughter in their land. 39 And you shall not consider clean the hide from your cities for my
precinct for according to the purity of its flesh so shall the hides be pure. 40 If you sacrifice in my temple, it is pure
for my temple; and if you slaughter in your cities it is pure for your cities. 41 And all the purity of the temple you
shall bring in the hides of the temple, and you shall not defile my temple and my precinct with your profane skins,
because I dwell in your midst.

1 These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat, 2 The hart, and the roebuck, and the fallow deer,
and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the wild ox, and the chamois. 3 And every beast that parteth the hoof, and cleaveth
the cleft into two claws, and cheweth the cud among the beasts, that ye shall eat. 4 Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of
them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the cloven hoof; as the camel, and the hare, and the coney: for they chew the
cud, but divide not the hoof; therefore they are unclean unto you. 5 And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth
not the cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead rotting body. 6 And whatsoever goeth
upon his paws, as the hyena, or whatever creeps on the ground, these are unclean to you; ye shall not eat of their flesh.
7 These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales shall ye eat: 8 And whatsoever hath not fins
and scales ye may not eat as the lamprey eel, the octopus, and the cuttlefish; it is unclean unto you. 9 Of all clean birds ye
shall eat. 10 But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray, 11 And the glede, and
the kite, and the vulture after his kind, 12 And every raven after his kind, 13 And the owl, and the night hawk, and the
cuckow, and the hawk after his kind,14 The little owl, and the great owl, and the swan, 15 And the pelican, and the gier
eagle, and the cormorant. And the stork, and the heron after her kind, kind and the lapwing,
lapwing, and the bat. 16 And every
creeping thing that flieth is unclean unto you: they shall not be eaten. But of all clean fowls ye may eat. 17 And these
from the winged insects ye can eat: the locust after his kind, the bald locust after his kind, the cricket, after his kind,
the grasshopper after his kind. 18These ye can eat from among winged insects: those which crawl on four paws,
which have hind legs wider than the forelegs in order to jump from the ground with them and to fly with their wings.
19 Ye cannot eat any decomposing body of bird or beast; thou mayest sell it unto an alien: but do not eat anything
abominable for thou art a holy people for Yeuweh your Supreme. 20 And ye are the children for Yeuweh your
Supreme: 21ye shall not cut yourselves nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead nor shall you make
gashes in your flesh for someone deceased nor shall ye daub yourselves with tattoos 22 For thou art an holy people
unto Yeuweh thy Supreme. 23And 23And ye shall not defile your land. And ye shall not do as the gentiles do: they bury
their dead in every place, they even bury them in the middle of their houses; instead ye shall keep places apart within
your land where ye shall bury your dead. 24 Among four cities ye shall establish a place in which to bury. 25And in
every city ye shall make places for those contaminated with leprosy, and with sores and with scabies so that they do
not enter your cities and defile them;26 and also for those who have a seminal disorder and for women if they have a
menstrual disorder and after giving birth, so that they do not defile in their midst with their menstrual impurity. 27
And the leper who has chronic leprosy or scabies and the priest has declared him unclean 28 take heed in the plague
of leprosy, that thou observe diligently, and do according to all the law that the priests the Levites shall teach you: as I
commanded them, so ye shall observe to do. 29 Remember what I Yeuweh thy Supreme did unto Miriam by the way, after
that ye were come forth out of Egypt. 30 And ye shall isolate those with leprosy in order that their unclean may not spread
to the rest of your people. 31 And this is how they shall be cleansed: you shall observe them seven days after their leprosy
has ceased, and if it has not returned, cleanse them from their defilement by offering two birds, and treating them with
cedar wood, with hyssop and with a scarlet cord. 32 Thus ye shall not defile your cities, with the plague of leprosy and
become unclean. 33 If a man dies in your cities, the whole house in which the deceased dies shall be unclean for seven
days; 34 everything there is in the house and everything which goes into the house shall be unclean for seven days; 35
and all food over which water is spilt shall be unclean; every drink shall be unclean; and the clay vessels shall be
unclean and everything there is in them shall be unclean for every pure man; 36 and the open vessels shall be
unclean for every man of Israel, all the drink that is in them. 37 And the day on which they remove the dead person
from it, they shall cleanse the house of every stain of oil, and wine, and dampness from water; they shall rub its floor,
and its walls and its doors; with water they shall wash its hinges, and its jambs, and its thresholds and its lintels. 38
The day on which the dead person is brought out from it, they shall cleanse the house and all its utensils, the mills,
and the mortar, and all the utensils of wood, iron and bronze, and all the utensils for which there is purity. 39 And
they shall wash the clothes, the sacks and the skins. 40 And every human who was in the house and everyone who
come to the house shall bathe in water and wash his clothes the first day. 41 And on the third day they shall sprinkle
over them the waters of purification, and they shall bathe and wash their clothes and the utensils which are in the
house. 42 And on the seventh day they shall sprinkle a second time, and they shall bathe and wash their clothes and
their utensils. 43 And they shall be clean by the evening from the dead person, so that they can approach all their
pure things. 44 And the men who were not contaminated by the dead shall gather the ashes of the heifer, to be kept in a
separate place until the day that it is needed to purify and cleanse those defiled from the dead on the seventh day of their
cleansing. 45 And they shall cleanse themselves with the ashes mixed in water. 46 And this shall be for an eternal
ordinance to cleanse those impure by a dead person and the area the dead dwells. 47 And they shall not eat anything
that is holy yet for they must sprinkle the water of purification on them and then they will be cleansed from mingling
with the dead. 48 As regards any who are impure, they shall not touch their pure things again until they sprinkle for
the second time on the seventh day, and they are pure in the evening, at sunset. 49And every man who in an open
field should come into contact with the bones of a dead person, or one slain by a sword, or a corpse or the blood of a
dead person or a grave shall purify himself according to the precept of this regulation; 50 and if he does not purify
himself according to the regulation of this law, he will be impure, his impurity will stick to him; 51 and everyone who
comes into contact with him shall wash his clothes and bathe and become pure by the evening. 52 And if a woman is
pregnant and her child dies in her womb, all the days which he is dead within her she shall be impure like a grave;
every house which she enters will be unclean with all its utensils for seven days; 53 and everyone who comes into
contact with her shall be impure up to the evening; and if he enters the house with her, he will be impure for seven
days; 54 he shall wash his clothes and bathe in water on the first day and on the third day he shall sprinkle and wash
his clothes and bathe; 55 and on the seventh day he shall sprinkle a second time and he shall wash his clothes and he
shall bathe and by sunset he will become pure. 56 And all the utensils and the clothes and the skins and all the
objects of goatskin you shall deal with them according to the regulation of this law. 57 And all the vessels of clay you
shall break because they are unclean; they cannot become clean again, ever. 58 Everything which creeps along the
ground will be unclean; the rat, the weasel, and every kind of lizard, the wall gecko, the gecko, the great lizard, and
the chameleon. 59 Everyone which comes in contact with them after they are decaying shall be unclean until evening.
60 He must launder all clothes containers, and vessels in which work is done in them; they shall be cleansed by immersion
into water, and they will be unclean until the evening. 61 But any container made of earth, or ovens, or stoves, which are
defiled by them shall be broken, for it is impossible to cleanse them. 62 Any foodstuffs upon which the carcass falls cannot
be eaten; it is unclean. However, if the carcass falls into a large body of living water, it shall not be defiled.If it falls onto
seed that is wet, the seed must not be eaten; it is unclean.63 But if the seed is dry when it fell onto the seed, the seed shall
remain clean to eat. 64 As for everything that issues from them if a man touches it he becomes unclean, for they are
unclean and you shall not be contaminated by them. 65 And everyone who comes in contact with them when they are
decaying will be impure until the evening; and he shall wash his clothes and bathe in water and at sunset he will be
pure. 66And everyone who carries their bones or their corpse, the skin or the flesh or the claws, shall wash his
clothes and bathe in water at sunset, afterwards he will be pure. 67And you shall forewarn the children of Israel of
all the impurities. 68And they shall not defile themselves with those things which I tell you on this mountain and
they are not become unclean. 69Because I, Yeuweh dwell among the sons of Israel. And you shall sanctify them and
they shall be holy. 70 They shall not make their souls abominable with anything that I have separated from them as
unclean and they shall be holy.

CHAPTER THIRTY SEVEN (11Q19 Temple Scroll Columns 51-54; Deuteronomy 16:18-20; 12:2-4; 16:21; 17:1; 15:19-

1 Judges and officers shalt thou make thee in all thy gates, and they shall judge the people with just judgment.
2 Thou shalt not wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift: for a gift doth pervert justice
and pervert the words of the righteous blind the eyes of the wise, and causes a great guilt and defiles the house with
the wickedness of sin. 3 That which is altogether just shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live, and inherit the land
which I giveth thee so as an inheritance for all days. 4 And the man who takes a bribe and perverts just judgment
shall be killed, and you shall not be afraid of killing him. 5 You shall not behave in your land as the nations behave;
in every place they sacrifice, and plant asheroth for themselves, and set up for themselves stelae, and place hewn
stones in order to bow down before them, and build for themselves idols for their gods; There shall not be an idolatress
of the daughters of Israel, and there shall not be an initiated person of the sons of Israel. 6 Ye shall utterly destroy all the
places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and
under every green tree:3 And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and
ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place.7 Ye shall not do so
unto me. 8 Thou shalt not plant thee a grove of any trees near unto an altar unto me which thou shalt make thee and you
shall not erect for yourself a stela which I loathe,nor
nor a stone carved you shall not make for yourself in all your land
make in order to bow down before it. 9 Thou shalt not sacrifice unto me any bullock, or sheep, wherein is blemish, or
any evil favouredness: for that is an abomination unto me. And you shall not sacrifice to me a cow, or ewe, or she
goat which are pregnant, for they are an abomination to me. And you shall not slaughter a cow or a ewe and its
young on the same day, and you shall not kill a mother with its young. 10 All the firstling males that come of thy
herd and of thy flock thou shalt sanctify unto me: me: thou shalt do no work with the firstling of thy bullock, nor shear
the firstling of thy sheep.11 Thou shalt eat it before me year by year in the place which I shall choose, 12 And if there
be any blemish therein, as if it be lame, or blind, or have any ill blemish, thou shalt not sacrifice it unto me. 13 Thou
shalt eat it within thy gates: the unclean and the clean person shall eat it alike, as the roebuck, and as the
hart.14 Only thou shalt not eat the blood thereof; thou shalt pour it upon the ground as water and cover it with dust.
15 Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn. 16 Thou shalt not plow with an ox and a donkey
together. 17You
17You shall not slaughter an ox or sheep or he goat which are pure in any of your gates which are nearer
than three days' walk from my temple, but instead you shall slaughter it inside my temple, making it into a burnt
offering or peace offering; 18 and ye shall eat and rejoice before me in the place where I shall choose to put my name
upon it. 19 And all pure animals in which there is a blemish you shall eat eat in your gates far from my temple at a
radius of thirty stadia. 20You shall not slaughter near my temple because it is unfit flesh. 21 You shall not eat the
flesh of ox, sheep, or goat within my precinct, which I sanctify by placing my name within it, which has not come into
my temple; 22 they shall offer it there, and its blood they shall pour upon the base of the altar of the burnt offering
and they shall burn its fat and shall eat the flesh. 23 Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk. 24 Thou mayest not
eat within thy gates the tithe of thy corn, or of thy wine, or of thy oil, or the firstlings of thy herds or of thy flock, nor any of
thy vows which thou vowest, nor thy freewill offerings, or heave offering of thine hand:25 But thou must eat them before
me in the place which I shall choose, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and
the Levite that is within thy gates: and thou shalt rejoice before me Yeuweh thy Supreme, in all that thou puttest thine
hands unto.26 Take heed to thyself that thou forsake not the Levite as long as thou livest upon the earth. 27 When I shall
enlarge thy border, as I have promised thee, 28 and if the place which I have chosen chosen to put my name there be too far
from thee, 29 and thou shalt say, I will eat flesh, because thy soul longeth to eat flesh 30 notwithstanding thou mayest kill
and eat flesh, according to the blessing which I have given thee:in all thy gates the unclean and the clean may eat
thereof, as of the roebuck, and as of the hart. 31 Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: 32 thou shalt pour it upon
the earth as water. and cover it with dust 33 for the blood is the life; 34 Thou shalt not eat it the life with the flesh;
that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee forever,
forever, when thou shalt do that which is upright and
good in my sight I am Yeuweh your Supreme. 35 Only thy holy things which thou hast, and thy vows, thou shalt
take, and go unto the place which I shall make my name dwell: 36 thither shall ye bring before me in accordance
with what you consecrated or vowed with your mouth. 37 When thou shalt vow a vow thou shalt not slack to pay it:
I will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee. 38 But if thou shalt forbear and you do not make a vow, it
shall be no sin in thee. 39 That which is gone out of thy lips thou shalt keep and perform; even a freewill offering,
according as thou hast vowed. 40If 40If a man vow a vow unto me, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he
shall not break his word, he shall do according as which thou hast promised with thy mouth. 41If 41If a woman also vow
a vow unto me, and bind herself by a bond, being in her father's house in her youth; 42And her father hear her vow,
and her bond wherewith she hath bound her soul, and her father shall hold his peace at her; then all her vows shall
stand, and every bond wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand. 43But if her father disallow her in the day that
he heareth; not any of her vows, or of her bonds wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand: and I shall forgive
her, because her father disallowed her. 44And if she had at all an husband, when she vowed, or uttered ought out of her
lips, wherewith she bound her soul; And her husband heard it 45 And if her husband altogether hold his peace at her from
day to dau; then he establisheth all her vows, or all her bonds, which are upon her: he confirmeth them, because he held his
peace at her in the day that he heard them. 46And if she vowed in her husband's house, or bound her soul by a bond with
an oath; 47And her husband heard it, and held his peace at her, and disallowed her not: then all her vows shall stand, and
every bond wherewith she bound her soul shall stand.48But if he shall any ways make them void after the day that he hath
heard them; then her husband shall bear her violation. 49Every vow, and every binding oath to afflict the soul, her
husband may establish it, or her husband may make it void on the day he hears it; and I shall pardon her. 50 But
every vow of a widow, and of her that is divorced, wherewith they have bound their souls, shall stand against her. as
everything which issues from her mouth. 51 What thing soever I command you today observe to do it: thou shalt not
add thereto, nor diminish anything from it.

CHAPTER THIRTY EIGHT (11Q19 Temple Scroll Columns 54-55; Deuteronomy chapter 13; 11Q20 Column 16):
If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder 2.And the sign or the
wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known,
and let us serve them; 3Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for I
proveth you, to know whether ye love Yeuweh the Supreme of your fathers, with all your heart and all your soul.4Ye
shall walk after Yeuweh your Supreme and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall
serve him, and cleave unto him. 5And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he
hath spoken to turn you away from Yeuweh your Supreme, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and
redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which he commanded thee to walk in. So
shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.6If thy brother, the son of thy father or the son of thy mother, or
thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly,
saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;7
fathers; Namely,, of the gods of
the people which are round about you,
you nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the
other end of the earth;8 Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him,
him neither
shalt thou spare him,
him neither shalt thou conceal him:9 But thou shalt surely report him; thine hand shall be first upon him
to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.10 And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die;
because he hath sought to thrust thee away from me which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of
bondage.11And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is among you. 12If thou
shalt hear say in one of thy cities, which I have given thee to dwell there, saying, 13Certain men, the children of
Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve
other gods, which ye have not known; 14Then shalt thou enquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold,
if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel, 15Thou shalt surely smite the
inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle
thereof, with the edge of the sword.16And thou shalt gather all the spoil of it into the midst of the street thereof, and
shalt burn with fire the city, and all the spoil thereof every whit, for Yeuweh thy Supreme and it shall be an heap for
ever; it shall not be built again. 17And there shall cleave nought of the cursed thing to thine hand: that I may turn
from the fierceness of my anger, and shew thee mercy, and have compassion upon thee, and multiply thee, as I have
sworn unto thy fathers; 18When thou shalt hearken to my voice to keep all my commandments which I command
thee this day, to do that which is right and good before me Yeuweh thy Supreme.

CHAPTER THIRTY NINE (11Q19 Temple Scroll Columns 55-57; Deuteronomy 17:2-20):
1If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which I giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought
wickedness in my sight in transgressing his covenant,2And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them,
either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, 3And it be told thee, and thou hast heard of it, and enquired
diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel:4Then shalt thou
expel that man or that woman and you shalt stone them with stones till they die. 5At the mouth of two witnesses, or
three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.
6The hands of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So thou
shalt put the evil away from among you.7If there arise a matter too hard for thee in judgment, between blood and blood,
between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke, being matters of controversy within thy gates:8 then shalt thou arise,
and get thee up into the place which the I shall choose to make my name dwell; 9And thou shalt come unto the priests the
Levites, and unto the judge that shall be in those days, and they shall enquire; the matter about which you come to
investigate and they shall shew thee the judgments: 10And thou shalt do according to the sentence which they inform
thee: and according to the sentence of the law which they shall teach thee, from the book of the Law. Law. They shall tell
it to thee accurately from the place I shall choose to make my name dwelling upon it; thou shalt be careful to observe
to do according to all that they inform thee: 11 and according to the judgment which they shall tell thee, thou shalt
do: thou shalt not decline from the sentence which they shall shew thee, to the right hand, nor to the left. 12 And the
man that will not listen, who will do presumptuously, and will not hearken unto the priest that standeth to minister
there before me or unto the judge, even that man shall die: and thou shalt put away the evil from Israel. And all the
people shall hear, and fear, and do no more presumptuously in Israel. Israel. 14When thou art come unto the land which I
giveth thee, and shalt possess it, and shalt dwell therein, and shalt say, I will set a king over me, like as all the
nations that are about me; 15Thou shalt in any wise set him king over thee, whom I shall choose: one from among
thy brethren shalt thou set king over thee: thou mayest not set a stranger over thee, which is not thy brother. 16But
he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, on account of war to the end that he
should multiply horses and the silver and gold forasmuch as I hath said unto you, Ye shall henceforth return no
more that way. 17Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, lest they turn his heart away from me. Neither shall he
greatly multiply to himself silver and gold. 18And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, they
shall write for him this law according to the book which is before the priests, the Levites:19And it shall be with him,
and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear me, to keep all the words of this law and these
statutes, to do them:20That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the
commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his
children, in the midst of Israel.

CHAPTER FORTY (11Q19 Temple Scroll Columns 57-59; 4Q524 frgs 6-13):
1 And this is the law for the king which shall be written for him by the priests. On the day when they declare him king,
they shall gather the sons of Israel, from twenty years old to sixty years old, according to their banners. 2 And they
shall appoint at their head chiefs of thousands, chiefs of hundreds, chiefs of fifties, and chiefs of tens in all their cities.
3 And he shall choose for himself a thousand of them, a thousand from each tribe, to be with him: twelve thousand
men of war who shall not leave him alone and he be seized by the hands of the gentiles. 4 And all the chosen whom he
has chosen, shall be truthful men, fearers of Supreme, enemies of bribery, men skilled in war; 5 and they shall be
with him continuously, day and night, and they shall keep him from every sinful deed and from the foreign nations so
that he does not fall into their hands. 6 And twelve princes of his people shall be with him, and twelve priests and
twelve levites, who shall sit together with him for judgment and for the law. 7 And he shall not rise his heart above
them nor shall he do anything in all his councils outside of them. 8 And he shall not take a wife from among all the
daughters of the Gentiles, but instead he shall take for himself a wife from the house of his father, from his father's
family. 9 And he shall take no other wife in addition to her for she alone will be with him all the days of her life. And
if she dies, he shall take for himself another from the house of his father, from his family. 10 And he shall not pervert
justice, and he shall not accept a bribe to pervert righteous judgment. 11 And he shall not crave a field, a vineyard,
any wealth, a house or any valuable thing in Israel and seize it for himself or another that he wishes to bestow it upon he
shall not do. 12 He shall not take anything from any person or people without the permission of his council. He shall see to
it that thieves shall not be tolerated in the land of Israel. 13 He shall do justice and righteousness, and shall not show
favoritism to the rich, but shall surely remember and take care of the poor, widow, and orphan in the land. He shall not use
his army for an abuse of authority;14 The king shall do this, so that there shall be peace in the land. And all his days, he
shall seek justice for their fellow men. 15 And if the king hears that some nations or people is attempting to steal from
anything which belongs to Israel, he shall send for the chiefs of thousands and the chiefs of hundreds, those stationed
in the cities of Israel; 16 and they shall send with him the tenth part of the people to go out with him to war against
their enemies. And they shall go out with him. 17 And if a large host enters the land of Israel, they shall send with
him a fifth part of the men of war. 18 And if it is a king with chariots and horses and many men, then they shall send
with him a third part of the men of war. 19 And the other two divisions shall guard their cities and their border so
that no horde will enter their land. 20 And if the war worsens for him, they shall send him half of the people, the
men of the army, but they shall not remove the half of the people from their cities. 21 And if they overcome their
enemies, and defeat them and put them to the sword, they shall gather their spoils, and from it they shall give to the
king its tithe, and to the priests one thousandth, and to the levites one hundredth of the whole. 22 And they shall
divide the rest between those who fought in battle and their brothers, who had to remain in their cities. 23 And if he
goes out to war against his enemies, a fifth part of the people shall go out with him, the men of war, all mighty men of
valor. 24 And they shall keep themselves from every unclean thing and from every shameful thing, and from every
iniquity and guilt. 25 And they are not to go forth until he has entered before the High priest and he has consulted
for him the decision of the Urim and Thummim. 26 On his orders he shall go out and on his orders he shall enter, he
and all the sons of Israel who are with him; 27 he shall not go out on the advice of his heart until he has consulted the
decision of the Urim and Thummim. 28 And he will have success in all his paths as he has gone out according to the
decision which I have revealed to him through the Urim and Thummim of the High Priest. 29 But if he and his people shall
not hearken to these commands, then he will have failure in all his paths as he has gone out without my guidance and I will
bring a sword upon him, that shall avenge the quarrel of my covenant: 30 and when they are gathered together within their
cities, I will send the pestilence among them; and they shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy. 31 They shall disband
them over many lands and they shall be there a byword and a gibe, and under a heavy yoke, and under lack of
everything; and there they shall worship gods made by the hands of man, wood and stone, silver and gold. 32 And
during all this, their cities shall become a waste, and a mockery and a ruin and their enemies shall be appalled at
them. 33 And they themselves, in the lands of their enemies, shall sigh and scream under a heavy yoke; and they shall
call but I shall not listen, they shall shout but I shall not reply to them, because of the evil of their deeds. 34 And I will
hide my face from them; and they shall be fodder and prey and spoil, and no one will save them because of their
wickedness for they broke my covenant and their soul loathed my law, so that they became guilty of all wrong doing.
35 Afterwards they shall come back to me with all their heart and with all their soul, in agreement with all the words
of this law and I will save them from the hand of their enemies and redeem them from the hand of those who hate
them, and bring them into the land of their fathers, 36 and I shall redeem them, and multiply them, and rejoice in
them. And I shall be their Supreme, and they shall be my people. 37 And the king who prostitutes his heart and his
eyes from my commandments, shall have no one who will sit on the throne of his fathers never because I shall
prevent for ever his descendants from governing again in Israel. 38 But if he walks according to my precepts and
keeps my commandments and does what is right and good before me, he shall not lack one of his sons to sit on the
throne of the kingdom of Israel for ever. 39 And I shall be with him and free him from the hand of those who hate
him and from the hand of those who seek to destroy his life; 40 and I shall give to him all his enemies and he shall
rule them at his will but they shall not rule him. 41 And I shall place him above and not below, at the head and not at
the tail and he will extend his kingdom for many days, he and his sons after him.

CHAPTER FORTY ONE (11Q19 Temple Scroll Columns 60-61; Deuteronomy 18:1-22+19:15-21; 4Q524 frgs 6-13):
1 The priests the Levites, and all the tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel: 2 My offerings made by
fire they shall make smoke and their inheritances they shall consume but no inheritance shall they have among their
brethren: I am their inheritance, as I hath said unto them.3 And this shall be the priest's due from the people, from them
that offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or sheep; and thou shall give unto the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and
the maw.4 and the firstfruit also of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstfruits of the fleece of thy sheep,
shalt thou give him. 5And the firstfruits of all of Israel shall belong to them and it shall be their dues and all their wave
offerings and all their male firstborn and every tithe for their animals; 6 and all their holy offerings which they
consecrate to me along with all their holy fruit offerings set apart for rejoicing; and their levy of tribute upon the
birds, animals and fish, one per thousand of all that they catch; and all that they place under the ban; and a levy on
the booty and spoil. 7 And it shall be for the levites: a tenth of the grain, the new wine and the oil which they
consecrate to me first; 8 and the shoulder from those who slaughter the sacrifice; and the levy on the booty and the
spoil and one percent of the catch of birds, animals and fish; 9 and of the pigeons and of the tithe of the honey, one
fiftieth. But to the priests belongs one percent of the pigeons, 10 for I hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand
before me and to minister and to bless in my name, him and his sons for ever. 11 And if a Levite come from any of
thy gates out of all Israel, where he sojourned, and come with all the desire of his mind unto the place which I shall
choose to make dwell my name, 12 he shall minister, as all his brethren the Levites do, which stand there before me.
13 They shall have like portions to eat, beside that which cometh of the sale of his patrimony. 14 When thou art come
into the land which I giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. 15 There shall
not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth
divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. 16 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits,
or a wizard, or a necromancer. 17 For all that do these things are an abomination unto me. me. And because of these
abominations I shall drive them out from before thee. 18 Thou shalt be perfect with Yeuweh thy Supreme.19 For
these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, I hath not
suffered thee so to do. 20 I will raise up unto thee a prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto Moses; unto
him ye shall hearken; 21 According to all that ye desiredst of me in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not
hear again the voice of Yeuweh my Supreme, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not. 22 And I said unto
thee, They have well spoken that which they have spoken. 23 I will raise them up a prophet from among their brethren, like
unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. 24 And it
shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of
him. 25 But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, name which I have not commanded him to speak,
or that shall speak in the name of other gods,
gods even that prophet shall die. 26 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall
we know the word which Yeuweh hath not spoken? 27 When a prophet speaketh in the name of Yeuweh and if the
thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which I have not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it
presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him. 28 One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or
for any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be
established. 29 If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong; 30 Then both the
men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before me, and before the priests and the Levites, and before the
judges which will be there on those days; and the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness
be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother; 31 Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to
have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you. 32 And those which remain shall hear,
and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you. 33 And thine eye shall not pity; but life
shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
CHAPTER FORTY TWO: (11Q19 Temple Scroll columns 61-63; Deuteronomy 20:1-7+24:5+20:8-20+23:9-14):
1 When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, and seest horses, and chariots, and a people more than thou,
be not afraid of them: for I am with thee, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. 2 And it shall be, when ye
are come nigh unto the battle,that the priest shall approach and speak unto the people, 3 And shall say unto them,
Hear, O Israel, ye approach this day unto battle against your enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not
tremble, neither be ye terrified because of them; 4 For I am he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies,
to save you. 5 And the officers shall speak unto the people, saying, What man is there that hath built a new house, and
hath not dedicated it? let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man dedicate it. 6 And what
man is he that hath planted a vineyard, and hath not yet eaten of it? let him also go and return unto his house, lest he die
in the battle, and another man eat of it. 7 And what man is there that hath betrothed a wife, and hath not taken her? lest he
die in the battle, and another man take her let him go and return unto his house. When a man hath taken a new wife, he
shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall
cheer up his wife which he hath taken. 8 Again the officers shall speak to the people and they shall say: What man is
there
there that is fearful and fainthearted? let him go and return unto his house, lest his brethren's heart faint as well as
his heart. 9 And it shall be, when the officers have made an end of speaking unto the people that they shall make
captains of the armies to lead the people. 10 When thou comest nigh unto a city to fight against it, then proclaim
peace unto it. 11 And it shall be, if it make thee answer of peace, and open unto thee, then it shall be, that all the
people that is found therein shall be tributaries unto thee, and they shall serve thee. 12 And if it will make no peace
with thee, but will make war against thee, then thou shalt besiege it: 13 And I shall have delivered it into thine hands.
thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword: 14 But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle,
and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself and thou shalt consume the spoil of
thy enemies which I have delivered unto thee. 15 Thus shalt thou do unto all the cities which are very far off from
thee, which are not of the cities of these nations. 16 But of the cities of these people, which I doth give thee for an
inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth: 17 But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites,
and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites and the Gergasites and the
Perizzites, as I have commanded thee:18 That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have
done unto their gods; so should ye sin against me.19 When thou shalt besiege a city a long time, in making war against it
to take it, thou shalt not destroy the trees thereof by forcing an axe against them: for thou mayest eat of them, and thou shalt
not cut them down (for the tree of the field is man's life) to employ them in the siege:20 Only the trees which thou knowest
that they be not trees for food, thou shalt destroy and cut them down; and thou shalt build bulwarks against the city that
maketh war with thee, until it be subdued. 21 When the host goeth forth against thine enemies, then keep thee from every
wicked thing.22 No woman shall fight in war, and if there be among you any man, that is not clean by reason of uncleanness
that chanceth him by night, then shall he go abroad out of the camp, he shall not come within the camp: 23 But it shall be,
when evening cometh on, he shall wash himself with water when the last quarter of the day begins: and when the sun is
down, he shall come into the camp again.24Thou shalt have a place also without the camp, whither thou shalt go forth
abroad:25 And thou shalt have a paddle upon thy weapon; and it shall be, when thou wilt ease thyself abroad outside,
thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt restore back and cover that which cometh from thee:26 For I walk in the midst of
thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no
unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee.

CHAPTER FORTY THREE (11Q19 Temple Scroll Columns 63-64; Deuteronomy 21:1-14; 24:1-4; 21:18-23; 4Q524 frg
14):
1 If one be found slain in the land which I give thee to possess it, lying in cities which are round about him that is
slain:3And it shall be, that city which is next unto the slain man, even the elders of that city shall take the heifer that has
never been worked unto a rough valley, which is neither eared nor sown, and shall strike off the heifer's neck there in
the valley: 5And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for I have chosen them to minister unto me, me, and to
bless in my name and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be tried: 6And all the elders of that
city, that are next unto the slain man, shall wash their hands over the heifer that is beheaded in the valley: 7And they
shall answer and say, Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen it. 8Be merciful, Yeuweh, unto
thy people Israel, whom thou hast redeemed, and lay not innocent blood unto thy people of Israel's charge. And the
blood shall be forgiven them. 9So shalt thou put away the guilt of innocent blood from among Israel, Israel, when thou shalt
do that which is right in the sight of Yeuweh your Supreme. 10When thou goest forth to war against thine enemies,
and I have delivered them into thine hands, and thou hast taken them captive, 11And seest among the captives a
beautiful woman, and hast a desire unto her, that thou wouldest have her to thy wife; 12Then thou shalt bring her
home to thine house, and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails; 13And he shall put the raiment of her
captivity from off her, and shall remain in thine house, and bewail her father and her mother a season of days: days: and
after that thou shalt go in unto her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife. 14 But she may not touch your
purities for seven years, nor may she eat the peace offering until seven years pass; afterwards she may eat of the holy
portions and thus shall she be purified from all her uncleanness. 15 And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou
shalt let her go whither she will; but thou shalt not sell her at all for money, thou shalt not make merchandise of her, because
thou hast humbled her. 16 When a man hath taken a wife, and has come onto her, and married her, and it come to pass that
she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some (marital) uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of
divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.17And when she is departed out of his house, if she
go and be another man's wife 18 and if the latter husband who took her to be his wife hate her, and write her a bill of
divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to
be his wife; 19 Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is
forbidden; for that is abomination before Yeuweh and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which Yeuweh giveth thee
for an inheritance. 23If
If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the
voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them: 24 Then shall his father
and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place; 25 And
they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a
glutton, and a drunkard. 26 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil
away from among you; and all the children of Israel shall hear, and fear. 26 If a man passes on information against
his people or betrays his people to a foreign nation or does evil against his people you shall hang him on a tree and he
will die. 27 On the evidence of two witnesses or on the evidence of three witnesses he shall be put to death and they
shall hang him on the tree. 28 If it happens that a man has committed a capital offence and he escapes amongst the
nations and curses his people and the children of Israel, he also you shall hang on the tree and he will die. 29 And
their bodies shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is
hanged is accursed by Supreme and man; man; that thy land be not defiled, which I give thee for an inheritance.

CHAPTER FORTY FOUR (11Q19 Temple Scroll Columns 64-66; Deuteronomy 22:1-4; 22:9; 22:11-12; 22:5-8; 22:13-29):
Thou shalt not see thy brother's ox or his sheep or donkey go astray, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt in any
case bring them again unto thy brother.2And if thy brother be not nigh unto thee, or if thou know him not, then
thou shalt bring it unto thine own house, and it shall be with thee until thy brother seek after it from you, and thou
shalt restore it to him again.3In like manner shalt thou do with his ass; and so shalt thou do with his raiment; and with all
lost thing of thy brother's, whichhe hath lost, and thou hast found, shalt thou do likewise: thou mayest not hide
thyself.4Thou shalt not see thy brother's donkey or his ox or any of his beasts fall down by the way, and hide thyself from
them: thou shalt surely help him to lift them up again 5Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind and 6thou
shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard,
or the offspring of your cattle be defiled. 7Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woollen and linen
together. 8Thou shalt make thee fringes upon the four quarters of thy vesture, wherewith thou coverest thyself. 9The
woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do
so are abomination unto Yeuweh thy Supreme 10 If a bird's nest chance to be before thee in the way in any tree, or
on the ground, whether they be young ones, or eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, thou shalt
not take the dam with the young: 11 But thou shalt in any wise let the dam go, and take the young to thee; that it
may be well with thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days. 12When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt
make a battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thine house, if any man fall from thence. 13 If any
man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her,14 And give occasions of speech against her, and bring up a bad
name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a virgin:15 Then shall the father
of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel's virginity unto the elders of the city in
the gate:16 And the damsel's father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man to wife, and he
hateth her;17 And, lo, he hath given occasions of speech against her, saying, I found not thy daughter a virgin; and
yet these are the tokens of my daughter's virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.18And
the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him;19And they shall amerce him in an hundred shekels of
silver, and give them unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought up a bad name upon a virgin of Israel:
And he is not to put her away all his days; she shall be his wife20But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not
found for the damsel: 21Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall
stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house: so shalt
thou put evil away from among you. 22 If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both
of them die, both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away evil from Israel. A damsel that is
a virgin is not allowed to marry a man without the permission of her father. If a father has two virgin daughters, he must not
betrothe the younger daughter to a husband before the older daughter has been betrothed to a husband. And if a man entice
a virgin that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife. If her father utterly refuse to give her
unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins, and the man is not allowed to marry his daughter for ever.
23If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city and lie with her; 24Then they
shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and they shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel,
because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour's wife: so thou shalt
put away evil from among you. 25But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, in a place far and hidden from
the city and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die. 26But unto the damsel
thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour,
and slayeth him, even so is this matter: 27 for he found her in the field, the young girl screamed but there was no one
to help her. 28 If a man seduces a young virgin who is not betrothed and she is permitted to him by the law and lay
hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;29Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father
fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

1A man shall not take his father's (former) wife, nor discover his father's skirt. 2A

(former) wife nor discover his brother's skirt, the son of his father or the son of his mother, because it is sexual
impurity. 3A man is not to take his sister, the daughter of his father or the daughter of his mother; it is an
abomination. 4A man is not to take the sister of his father or the sister of his mother, because it is depravity. 5 A man
is not to take the daughter of his brother or the daughter of his sister because it is an abomination. 6A man is not to
take the daughter of his son or the daughter of his daughter because it is an abomination. 7A man is not to take the
(former) wife of his son because it is sexual impurity.
