Military nurses

I have always wanted to be a nurse. Then, one day I was watching a movie about the war and I
was so fascinated with what goes on over-seas. So, I Decided to become a nurse for the military. There is
nothing else I want to do but to go to war with the men and women that serve to protect our freedom so
that when they get hurt, sick, or injured I am one of those people who get to help them recover.

There are many steps you have to take in order to become a nurse in the military. The first step is
to get accepted into a nursing program. Step 2 is to talk to a campus ROTC program director about
nursing scholarships and ROTC opportunities. Step 3 is to complete one or more summer nursing
programs put on by the army. During these training programs you will work with one of the many A.I.M
centers in the U.s or in Germany. These programs last about 3 weeks and you get paid for your work. Step
4 is to earn your nursing degree and then decide between a reservist or a commissionist officer of the U.s
Army. Last step is to enlist in the army nursing program you are interested in.

The Army Nurses are strong and provide multi-disciplinary care for soldiers, their families, and
non-military individuals. Officers in the Army Nurse Corps are a special breed. Typical responsibilities
might include commanding and controlling different shifts in field hospitals or Medical Activity
installation, or even leading huge teams at Medical Centers.

Back in 1775 when the American Revolutionary war was going on there wasn’t a lot of nurses in
the military field and war was in need of nurses. In 1898, in the Spanish-American war there were only
1500 nurses assigned to the hospitals for the solders. In World War I 33,000 women served not only as
nurses but in other support roles as well. More than 400 nurses died in the line of duty. When World War
II started there were less than 7000 nurses enlisted in the military field. Over the next 6 months after the
war started, the numbers grew to more than 12000. There were 3,200 military nurses recruited to Iraq in
2003 for the current war we as a country are still in as of 2010.

Sometimes war is a very hard thing to go through and overcome, because a lot of times a lot of
men and women who go to war get injured physically or mentally. I want to be one of those women who
help a daddy or a mommy, a brother or sister, or a sister or brother get back to their families in one piece
if possible. War can hurt a lot of people, not just those who are in it and I want to be able to help all those
war could possibly hurt.
