Instructions to the Candidates to

reach the venue of the Aptitude Test
A brief description about the structure of the Aptitude Test and other details are given on the overleaf. Please go through these
instructions carefully and come prepared for the Aptitude Test. Based on the result of this Test, selected students will be invited to
appear for an interview to be held at various centers in the country during the month of January/February 2016. Letters inviting
selected students for interview will be dispatched in the last week of December 2015. Thank you for your keen interest in the KVPY
Program.
Please bring the Admit Card along with you for the examination. In addition to the admit card, students must bring another
valid School/College ID with the clear photograph. Produce the same to the invigilator on request. Students without the Admit
Card and valid ID will not be permitted to appear for the aptitude test. Please note that expenses towards travel, boarding and
lodging will NOT be reimbursed by KVPY for attending the Aptitude Test.

APTITUDE TEST INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS

1. You are advised to go over to the examination center at least half an hour before the commencement of the test (i.e.8.30a.m.).
2. The students seat number and the room number in which the test will be conducted will be displayed in each center. Please
check the location of your room. Before entering the room, please show your ADMIT CARD and VALID ID to the Invigilator.
3. The test is of 3 hours duration (9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m).
4. The question paper consists of two parts (both contain only multiple choice questions) for 100 marks. It consists of 60 questions
of 1 mark each and 20 questions of 2 marks each. There will be four sections allotted for (1) Mathematics, (2) Physics, (3)
Chemistry and (4) Biology. All questions are compulsory.
5. The composition of the question paper is given in the table below:

6. There is negative marking for wrong answers. Unanswered questions will not be evaluated and will not be penalized as a wrong
answer.
7. In Part I each correct answer gets 1 mark and for each incorrect answer 0.25 mark will be deducted. In Part II each correct
answer gets 2 marks and for each incorrect answer 0.5 mark will be deducted.
8. You are permitted to use a non-programmable calculator.
9. Carrying/use of mobile phone, I-pod, portable hard disc, pen drive, data card, pagers inside the examination hall is strictly
prohibited and no provisions have been made for their safe custody at test centers.
10. The examination will be computer based test. Candidates are advised to go through the mock test which is available at the
KVPY website. Questions that are answered and Marked for reviews will be considered as ANSWERED.
11. Test center gate closing time 9.00 a.m.
12. Candidates cannot leave before 11.00 a.m. (i.e. 90 minutes after the exam starts).
