Characters:
Sir Kaye
Mom
Dad
The Three Magis (Melchora, Gaspara,
Baltazara)
Passers-by

Voice-over: (in a modulated and deep

voice with expression) In a world where
the darkness of sin and the night of
unbelief vanish before the light of the
fluorescent lamp and the spirit of
ammonia, a story about Christmas is
about to be told.
The Fourth Group of Harmless Potatoes
presents...A Christmas Carol
(Cast will come forward in an immobile
position in their character)

Kaye: (in an excited tone) Yes! I volunteer

as tribute!
(Kaye and his parents were playing in the
snow. Kaye is building a snowman)
Mom: (while Kaye is building) I really love
our son.
Dad: I do love him too.
(Mom and Dad hugged Kaye)
Mom and Dad: Merry Christmas, son!
Mom: We cant afford to lose you! We
could never imagine life living without
you.
Dad: Yes, son! We would never replace
you with anything. Not even a whole bag
of potatoes can replace you.
Mom: We love you more than French fries,
hashbrowns, potato chips, and
camoteque.
Mom and Dad: Merry Christmas!
Kaye: Merry Christmas too, Mom and Dad!

Scene 1 (Mom, Dad, Kaye)

Narrator: A very short but a very long time
ago, there was a juvenile boy who lived in
Far Far Away, Talamban, Cebu City. By the
name Kaye, he loved his parents so much
that the limit would not exist if his parents
would merely vanish into thin air. They all
had a wonderful time especially when the
Christmas season comes forth.
(Characters in the scene from immobile
position will start acting)

(Kaye and his parents hugged then they

will freeze in position)
Narrator: Everything turned out well. But
everything changes when the terrorist
nation attacked. It was the bombing of
Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Cebu.
[sfx: bombs Bombs were thrown at
parents]
(Kayes parents broke free from the hug
and then bombs were thrown at them)

(Setting: Outside Kayes Residence, a

backyard full of snow)

(Mom and Dad (in slowmo) fell and died)

Mom: Kaye! Come here!

Kaye: (in slowmo ) Noooooo!

Kaye: Yes, mom?

(All characters will freeze)

Mom: Do you wanna build a snowmaaaan?

Narrator: On Christmas day, he felt so

depressed. His attitude began to change
like the leaves of the trees during winter

time. He grew cold and his depression

made him lose his grip on reality.

Scene 3 (Kaye, Melchora, Gaspara, and

Balthazara)

Kaye: I hate Christmas!

Narrator: But kids, wait till you hear this!

Wait..ooh..whats that?

(Kaye pauses again)

(A box was laid down)
Narrator: And thats what he said. He
hated Christmas. And in every passing
year, when Christmas would come, he
would despise the wonderful time of the
year. What once was a season he loved is
now a season he hates. Fair enough.
Scene 2 (Kaye, Passer-by)
(Setting: A cold night on the streets)
Narrator: He grew older and he grew
colder. Though he grew rich and famous,
his intuition on Christmas started to fade.
Kaye: (bringing paperwork) Its Christmas
time again. I hate it. (sees a Merry
Christmas signage; erases it) And the
very word of Christmas itself.
(Passer-by passes by)
Passer-by: Merry Christmas, sire!

Kaye: Who the hell is giving me presents?

Doesnt anybody understand that I hate
Christmas? (opens gift, flash of light
appears)
Narrator: The light! The light! Ooh I cant
stand the ligh(coughs). Ah, yes! A
glowing gift box fell from the heavens.
Kaye: The light! It is so vivid! My eyelids
cannot fathom the intensity of the light.
(The three magis who are stationary will
not move however they would speak)
Gaspara: Oh really?
Balthazara: My, my. What a weakling.
Melchora: You two! Shush! Give him a
chance.
Gaspara: Oh, I really hate dealing with
these types of people.

Kaye: Shut up! You and your Merry

Christmas crap.

Balthazara: Yeah.

Passer-by: But sire..

Melchora: Shush! You two!

Kaye: I said

(Kaye stands in shock)

Passer-by: But

Narrator: Three magis magically appeared

(The magis would then freely move), sent
from above, all for a single purpose. And
that is to change a persons heart in a
good way.

Kaye: I said shut up!

(Passer-by was offended, fell silent, and
left)

(Magis move from stationary position)

Kaye: Screw this Christmas. Theyll
never know whats coming

Melchora: Good day, sir Kaye! I am

Melchora, the ghost of the past.

(All characters of scene will pause)

Gaspara: I am Gaspara, the ghost of the
present.

Balthazara: (in a sassy tone) And I am

Zara, the ghost of

Kaye: Well, youre right. But that was

before! It wouldnt change a thing.

Melchora and Gaspara: What Zara? You

are BALTHAzara.

Gaspara: True. But as you grew older, you

hated Christmas all because of that
bombing incident.

Gaspara: For heavens sake, Balthazara.

Kaye: That was done on purpose!

Balthazara: Ok, ok. You heard them. Im

Balthazara, the ghost of the future.
Sheesh!

Gaspara: But why a change of heart? You

were so young and free and had a joyful
heart. I cant believe that your heart grew
colder and colder and colder...and colder.

Melchora, Gaspara, and Balthazara:

(coughs) And we are the three-wiseyoung-pear-shaped-beige-asian-ghastlypoweruff-magi!
Kaye (aghast): Who are you people?
Balthazara: Your worst nightmare!
(chuckles in a witch-like manner)
Gaspara: Stop it Zara! Youre ruining the
moment.
Melchora: (coughs as interruption) We are
here to tell you your Christmas story!
Kaye: So?
Melchora: Back when you were a child,
you really(3x) times ten to the power of
999 squared loved Christmas. You loved all
of the lights, the smell of mistletoe, and
the music during the Christmas season.
And most of all, you used to love the spirit
of Christmas and it gave you hope and
happiness. You felt alive!
Kaye: That was before!
Melchora: You were a cheerful bud. You
used to play with snow!

Kaye: Because! (throws stuff and began to

rage)
Gaspara: Thats how life is, sire. Why
couldnt you be thankful for that brief
moment of happiness? Do you remember
what you used to do with your parents
during the yuletide season? You should
have donated to charity. Cared for the less
fortunate perhaps?
Kaye: Why should I care about them? I
have my own life. I can fend for myself. I
wished then that they would all die so that
they would never suffer the consequences
this life has to bring. Just look at my
parents.
Balthazara: Be careful what you wish for,
sire! For what I foresee will be a terrible
Christmas future ahead. If you wish to
continue to banish the Christmas spirit,
you will live in the dark ages of your life in
inconceivable poverty. Youll be out
crawling on the streets and not a single
eye would be laid on you. Your riches shall
disappear in a blink of an eye. And I say it
once more, be careful what you wish for.
Kaye: Whats in it for me? Do I have to
believe that?

Kaye: I hate snowmen!

Melchora: I would deny that it wasnt
what it used to be.

Balthazara: Its your choice. But I tell you

sire..what I say is clearer than Natures
spring water.

Kaye: Bah-humbag! You and your stupid

lies!

Gaspara: Whats this sudden change of

thought?

Balthazara: Its your choice!

Balthazara: It has been ten years.
Kaye: Shut up!
Balthazara: It;s your choice! (in an echolike effect)

Gaspara: Ten years indeed. And look, you

said it right Zara. Alone and cold and
begging for alms. (Laughs hysterically)

Melchora: I pity your soul, young man!

Balthazara: Indeed. Serves him right.

Gaspara: People like you are hard to

convince. I pity your soul that feels no
sympathy.

Melchora: Now, now. Lets give this poor

man a chance. Sire, you shall live normally
then.

Kaye: Then leave! Thats all non-sense!

(Everything was back to normal)

(All characters in the scene will freeze)

Kaye: Thank you! Thank you!

Scene 4 (Kaye, Passers-by, Melchora,

Gaspara, and Balthazara)

Gaspara: Well. I hope you had a change of

heart! That is what we want you to be.
Christmas is a time of giving and sharing.
And it is a time where love conquers all.
Never let your dreams be crushed like a
potato chip.

Narrator: A few years passed and he chose

to live in his selfish ways. Boy, what a
poor, unfortunate soul.
Kaye: (sits in a corner and begs) Alms!
Alms!
(Three passers-by would stop by Kaye and
talk about him)
Passer-by 1: Is he that person who hated
Christmas?

Balthazara: It would ruin your life.

Melchora: Dont end up miserable. Theres
more to Christmas than drowning in your
own hatred. Share a coke! Share
happiness!
Kaye: (teary-eyed tone) I will! I will!

Passer-by 2: Looks familiar to me.

Passer-by 3: My, my. Hes waster.
Passer-by 2: Well, whats Christmas
anyway? Lets leave.

(All four characters would hug and then

freeze)
Narrator: And so it ends, kids. The story of
Christmas foretold. And remember, be
happy! Open happiness!

(Passers-by left)
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Kaye: What? No, this is not what I want.
This is not what I planned! I wish to go
back. I want to change! I want to change!
(The three magi appeared once again)
Melchora: We heard your wish, sire!
