1 Hiromi and Robert Glasper: This SFJAZZ spring
season double bill features two rising stars in the
jazz piano world: Hiromi (pictured) has wowed
audiences with her prowess and exuberant style;
Glasper has won raves for incorporating hip-hop
and other pop-rock elements in his post-bop
soundscape.

2 San Francisco Ballet: The company tackles the
hotly anticipated U.S. premiere of "The Little
Mermaid," John Neumeier's evening-length dance-
theater piece adapted from the Hans Christian
Andersen story. Note: This is not your Disney
"Mermaid" and it's not recommended for young
children.

3 Brahms Requiem: Oakland-based Cantare Con
Vivo, a 117-member choir, presents this famous

4 "Den of Thieves": SF Playhouse has another
winner with Stephen Adly Guirgis' hilarious and
heartfelt play about a group of mostly harmless
ne'er-do-wells who decide the perfect crime is
swiping $750,000 from the mob.

5 Altan: For those of you who turn St. Patrick's Day
into a weeklong celebration (although I certainly
know no one like that), this acclaimed band arrives
in Berkeley for a night of traditional Irish music.

6 "8 Track: The Sounds of the '70s": It's hard to
look back with anything but misty-eyed reverence at
a decade that gave us such songs as "Afternoon
Delight" and "Disco Duck." This musical at Willows
Theatre Company pays homage to those glory days.
