How a country is run should only be left to politicians. What is your view?

Question thus raises an implied issue:

Are politicians the ones who are the most capable and who can make the
best decisions for the country in all situations? (Unreasonable implications
in proposition arising from the use of only need to be challenged)
Without the unreasonable term, there is some truth in the proposition:
Politicians should play a bigger role (relative to the rest of society) in
deciding how the country is run because:
They have access to more knowledge than the rest of us and are
able to make more informed decisions (What about the politicians
[the stakeholder] that make the above statement justified?)
And interference in their running of the country could lead to
inefficiency (What about the running of the country that make the
above statement justified?)
The unreasonable term (and its implication), however, still need to be
challenged:
Politicians should not be the only ones deciding how a country is run

There are other parties who have a stake in the country and hence
should be involved in making decisions for the country.

In fact, politicians may not always make the best decisions in the interests
of the country or its citizens

As we cannot assume that politicians are infallible or that all possess

integrity

Thesis
In modern democracies, politicians are elected officials put in office by
winning the popular vote. As professionals, they are most likely educated
or equipped with the necessary training and specialised knowledge to
handle the complexities of running a country. Furthermore, if there were
too much interference in political decisions by other parties, the running
of the country would be mired in inefficiency. However, not all politicians
work in the interest of its people and the running of a country should not
be left solely in the hands of politicians. Politicians must be regulated by
the public to ensure that the citizens are duly defended against corruption
and minority interests in against tyranny of the majority. In a true
democracy, sovereignty resides ultimately in the citizenry, not the

politicians who serve the needs who put them into office. Hence,
politicians must engage the cooperation of the people and consider their
views when making decisions that affect the future of the nation in order
for democracy to be effective.

Admit partial truth: 2-3 paragraphs on the reasons why the running
of a country should be left largely to politicians
Traits that are peculiar to politicians and not other parties
Consequences if other parties interfere too much in the running of
the country
Reject absolute statement: 2-3 paragraphs why the running of the
country should not be left solely to politicians
Consequences if we totally agree with absolute statement flawed
assumptions made about politicians
Exceptions to absolute statement Reasons why it is reasonable to
expect other parties to involve themselves in the running of a
country

Censorship has no place in the arts. Is this true of your society?

State why the absolute proposition is embraced by some
Censorship is perceived to be irrelevant in Singapore:

Singaporeans are more educated and open-minded nowadays and

thus can evaluate controversial artwork independently (what about
Singaporeans [the stakeholder] that make the absolute statement
justified)
Singapore aims to be a Renaissance City (arts hub) and excessive
censorship diminishes the vibrancy of the arts scene (what about
the arts in Singapore [the topic] that make the absolute statement
justified)

Refute counter arguments: 1 paragraph on challenging the assumptions

made in previous points
Not all Singaporeans are open-minded or mature enough
Not all artwork or artist will uphold artistic quality; sensationalism
(porn as art?)
Dismiss the fact that censorship can sometimes still be necessary and
important (challenge the absolute term no place/irrelevant)
Add depth and showcase awareness

What are the different purposes or roles of censorship that could be

used to challenge the statement?
What are the attributes of your society?

Censorship is still important as a gatekeeper of social values and

stability, especially for artwork that does not find acceptance
amongst the majority
Singapore is still an Asian, and thus traditional, society despite
modernisation
Censorship is needed to protect the young and impressionable from
questionable content
Particularly important given the fact that since Singaporean is one of
the 2 most wired countries in the world, Singaporean youth can
easily access controversial books or films or performances online
Censorship ensures the quality of artistic message, presentation and
stylistics
