to a changed task or evolving a significant subsystem of a current

Variant Design (or modification) involves varying the parameters
Redesign
Redesign is a term that we use to mean anyone of the above.
Redesign does not mean variant design.
Rather, redesign is a term that we use to mean any one of the above.
Redesign does not meant variant design.
Rather, redesign only implies that a product already exists that is
perceived to fall short in some criteria, and a new solution is needed.
