“Oh Thou Soul, Come Back To Thy Lord”

“Oh thou soul in rest and satisfaction. Come back to thy Lord. Enter thou among
my devotees. Yea enter thou My heaven.” (89:27-28) These verses from the Qur’an
given in inspiration to our beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) from our One Most
Merciful God, comes to mind as I stand over the feeble, decrepit old grave.

I imagined old bones disarrayed, lying deep within this grave, perhaps from insects or
parasites having picked over them. Wow, over a hundred years have passed since this
person met his demise, I thought, as I did the math from the date on the tombstone. With
every passing year I’ve become more aware of how quickly time rolls by. “Oh thou soul,
come back to thy Lord".

I don’t think it was the brisk early morning breeze that sent a shiver sweeping down my
spine, but the thought of when inevitably it would be my turn to meet Israel “Angel of
Death”. I couldn’t help but wonder if it would be a horrifying or a pleasant experience.
Would he brutally rip my soul from my body out through my throat while leaving my
lifeless body laying there, eyes fixed in an upward stare from having watched my soul
leaving what had been it’s place of refuge for forty six years. “Oh thou soul, come back
to thy Lord”.

I pray dear God let me have passed the test of this world with all its turmoil and
hardships, with flying colors. When my time on earth has expired, which only You could
know, please allow me to be among your devotees. Let my soul be eager to rush into the
comforting arms of the Angel of Death when he beckons it. “Oh thou soul, come back to
thy Lord”.

Allah (God) I think to myself, Who or What is this Holy, Mighty, Sublime entity Who
created, owns, and governs us, this entire universe, and all the universes beyond that.
Anything existing today or from the beginning of existence itself needs Him, depends on
Him to be or not to be. He is the Creator, mankind’s Creator. He created all of this, all
of everything, but why, why? “Oh thou soul, come back to thy Lord”.

So much controversy surrounds the subject of whether God exists or not. How is it
possible for a person not to comprehend when they see the beauty, and ills of this world
as signs from our Most Merciful God, especially upon knowing or hearing about the
misfortunes suffered by disobedient nations in the past? In the Qur’an Allah gives many
examples about such nations. “Oh thou soul, come back to thy Lord. Our Creator,
Whose throne extends over the heavens and the earth”.

Blessed be He in Whose hands is dominion; and He over all things hath power. He
Who created death and life, that He may try which of you is best in deed; and He is
the Exalted in Might, Oft-Forgiving. (67:1-2)
“Oh thou soul in rest and satisfaction, come back to thy Lord”
No just estimate have they made of Allah, such as due to Him. On the Day of
Judgment the whole of the earth will be but His handful, and the heavens will be
rolled up in His right hand. Glory to Him, high is He above the partners they
attribute to Him! (39:67) “Oh thou soul in rest and satisfaction, come back to thy
Lord”.

For those who reject their Lord (and Cherisher) is the penalty of hell: and evil is
(such) destination. When they are cast therein, they will hear the (terrible) drawing
in of its breath even as it blazes forth. Almost bursting with fury: Every time a
group is cast therein, its keepers will ask, “Did no warner come to you?” (67:6-8)
“On thou soul in rest and satisfaction, come back to thy Lord”.

Many ask, “Does God really exist”? I ask, “Can they afford to take the chance of not
submitting to God’s will”? Mind you the body dies, but the soul is everlasting. God has
given an everlasting warning to mankind. I give you my sincere advise from the bottom
of my heart brothers and sisters, to purify your souls before it's too late! Oh thou soul in
rest and satisfaction, come back to thy Lord. Enter thou among my devotees. Yea
enter thou my heaven.
