PAGE 2 OF RECOMMENDATION FOR (APPLICANT'S SURNAME):

Please include a statement about the applicant's strengths and weaknesses and potential for success in graduate school.
I worked with Alison for approximately 3 years when she was an International Account Manager at Eurofins USA. When we
started working together, I was very new to the Biotechnology area that my project was based on. As a result, I had to identify
analytical tests that would be most appropriate to get the characterization information 1 needed, and furthermore had to sort out
what the best Eurofins offering would be, since there are many different versions of similar tests reported in the literature. Alison
was invaluable in helping me sort through many of these problems, in a wide variety of areas including chemistry, biology, and
microbiology. She always responded to me quickly and efficiently; I never had to wait long for her to get back to me. In each
case, she was able to explain to me just what the test involved, what kinds of information it generated and even what its
shortcomings were. The response was always complete and helpful. She was a very valuable partner for the time we worked
together.
I think she would be a very good student and eventually an excellent teacher. She appears to be very bright, responsible and
organized. Also her motivation level and energy for the job was always very high. I am completely confident she will complete all
assignments on time and with good quality. She will also maintain her focus for the time required to complete her degrees and I
do not anticipate her requiring more than the minimum amount of years in the program.
I teach a chemistry course online as a second job, and very much believe that the best way to learn, especially in science, is by
doing. I think that with her practical experience at Pioneer and Eurofins, Alison will also be a pragmatic teacher, as opposed to
someone that cannot effectively deliver learning at the high school/community college level.
