Thais Quintella de Linhares was born in Rio de Janeiro.

She moved with her family

to U.S.A. while she was still a baby, and there she lived until she was five years old.
As she listened to the classics of literature to which her grandmother introduced her,
Thais learned to love the books, together with the beautiful illustrations. Returning home, her
family took up residence in the neighborhood of the Jardim Botnico (Botanical Gardens of
Rio de Janeiro), where streets and cars still share space with birds and monkeys.
First she entered to the School of Astronomy at the Federal University of Rio de
Janeiro (Astronomy/UFRJ), but in 91, during the first Comics Strips International Biennial
of Rio de Janeiro, she managed to contact many cartoonists and illustrators, especially two of
her greatest idols: Will Eisner and Moebius. She also worked at that time as a comic writer
with Ziraldo one of the greatest Brazilian author of children's. For Ziraldos studio she
wrote many scripts for childrens magazines such as Stio do Picapau Amarelo and
Menino Maluquinho.
So enchanted, she decided to follow the artistic career and entered (1990) as
apprentice in a publicity agency, and soon after that she was chosen to enter a Special Course
of Graphic Design (SENAI-AG). There she was trained in art, communication, computer
graphics, history of graphic design and graphic production after a two years full time
course, she graduated as graphic designer and went to work at a creative department of a
publicity agency. During this time she produced and published her own comic album, the
Grimoire, released at the II Comics Strips International Biennial of Rio de Janeiro,
obtaining a good divulgation in the press. Further two of her comics were awarded 7th and
10th places in the Biennial competitions. She also graduated in the National Academy of
