Jos Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda the most remarkable hero the

world has to offer. His life story was undeniably the main source of inspiration among
the Filipino youth from then until now. It is him, who concluded, that the youth will be the
hope of the coming generations and next, as he was when he was young. Even at an
early age, he suffered the wrath that the Spaniards then implemented upon our
ancestors. It is through this that he developed a sense of patriotism and nationalism. He
did not just witness a gruesome punishment but experienced it himself. And this was the
mark of the beginning on how Rizal was fully motivated in fighting for the rights and
inequality that the Filipinos then were living. Jose Rizals mindset was then challenged
as to the many hindrances that he faced as he dedicated himself into the aide of the
Filipino community.
As a child, his goals were not merely to be able to play outside, but to discover the
curiosity he could not dare to be taken for granted. He painted, he wrote and he looks
through things differently. He was accustomed to be a curious child, thus sending
himself into the world undermined beneath. Which when he grew up developed into
something big that brought us to where we are today. And he was just a nine-year old
kid, he was sent away from his family to be able to go to school. He lived independently
and endured the forthcomings which his professor has prepared for him. From that, he
was expecting any form of punishment at the end of the day without knowing what he
did wrong. Even so, he was still exceptionally good in class. So the questions that creep
up in his mind were: Was it because I outsmarted others? Or is it simply because Im an
Indio who is unfortunately a smart one? Through then, we could come up with the
same fact that whatever you do, whether youre exceptionally good, or youre too dumb
to do anything, the Spaniards will always find a way to punish you down to the most
tiniest things you could ever think of, to the unimaginable ways of enslaving people that
may took out their life out from their body. And this is all merely the foregone conclusion
that youre an Indio.
Years after, when Dr. Jose Rizal went to a prestigious school, his posture doesnt quite
indicate excellence as he so much possessed. This was due to the problems he was
facing at home that no kid could bear to handle. It was then that he was looked down
upon. He was mocked and was made a laughing stock by his fellow colleagues. But this
doesnt stop him, hence it inspired him. And as we are known to be resilient, Jose Rizal
recovered from that loneliness and sadness and built it up to make it his motivation and
inspiration. Spaniards are famously known to be racist. He was, of course, a trueblooded Filipino, with distinct physical features which was the main reason why he was
being bullied. It made him an easy target for discrimination. But with this, he showed
and developed his talents, painted and wrote. Luckily, they could afford sending him
overseas to have him the best education his parents could give and was being aided by
his brother Paciano. Paciano who was mentioned a lot of times in the film, should also

be given a lot of credit for his determination and showed great example as to how to be
a good big brother. He sacrificed his dreams and gave it to his brother, Jose Rizal, for
him to continue. He was a great brother; he helped Rizal plan his escape and motives.
Without him Jose Rizal might not be able to accomplish any of all the things that we are
savor for.
So when Rizal stayed overseas, there he devoted himself into school. He joined clubs,
excelled in class, discovered new talents, developed his skills, met new friends and foes
and of course devoured himself into women. Rizal was not just exceptionally good in
class, but also to women. He was maybe astoundingly attractive and captivating to
them. He was undeniably overflowing with charisma not just for Filipino people who had
followed him anywhere he went but to women from all sorts of countries. But even as he
was introduced to a lot of women, he havent forgotten his lover from the Philippines
and kept writing to her.
Even as remarkable as Rizal, he possessed certain behavior that the Filipino youth still
acquired. He was just like us, maybe exceptional in some ways but also experienced
difficulties as a student and as an individual. He experienced lying to his parents unto
buying a required book, even if it was just for himself, he dated women, experienced
hunger because of poverty, being mistreated and a lot more. He deluded himself into
believing that he could make a difference. And so he did. For it was not a delusion but
simply pure faith. He may have failed a lot of times, blamed even, but needlessly was
not discouraged-it had an opposite effect on him even.
All my elementary and secondary years introduction about Jose Rizal history doesnt
give him much credit and justice that he ought to have. There was no way to know him
more. But now, I can say that they made a huge success upon implementing and
pursuing the Rizal law, which mandate that the life, teachings, and writings of Rizal
should be hand down to the next generations to come. He is much more than what we
gave him credit for. His famous novels, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, which
inspired Filipinos to fought then, has given us a flashback on how injustifiable, corrupt
and abusive the government then under the supervision of Spain. Even firrs, who now
called priest, was nowhere near help. They talk mostly about propagating Christianity
but not applying the principles that the Bible has taught them. They should be good to
others, a help as suppose, but instead they showed a huge difference on their attitude.

When Rizal was finally free from all distress, was safe and secured with his family, but
still kept hidden, he could not bear forget the life they left in their home. He felt reluctant,
as if there is something that he should do that he was not done yet. And that is for his
people. Filipinos were then under the corrupt and abusive government of Spain. He

could have lived a long life; instead he gave his whole existence unto the aid of the
Filipino community.
I have heard about my parents discussing on how they regret on not utterly devoting
themselves into the study of the language of Spain. They regret the opportunity they
had, which they have taken for granted. And I wondered, Why do you regret? They
were the one who maltreated our ancestors in a span of 333 years? And now they want
to inculcate in us their dialect? Arent we already free from them? And as Ive thought of
it, there is a huge possibility that our ancestors married people from Spain that we may
have a Spaniard blood lingering in our veins. From Rizals famous novels, you could
conclude that cruelty was never out of place. We may have moved on now, but still and
should remember that we share a common past with them.
Spain was the mistress of the world, they are a rich country, they are might but this
doesnt give them the tiniest bit of right to enslave us from our own country. And we
must remember that from all those struggles, sacrifices, lives spared, we won against
them. Rizal made it all possible. He may not have fought with swords, guns or balisong
but he fought with the mightiest weapon of all-pen. His words influenced and inspired a
lot of people to fight back. And that lead us to where we are today. He may have died a
long time ago, but his prophecy still lingered upon us. Jose Rizal was not just the
Philippine hero, but he was undeniably and he still is a legend.
