waters he named Sea of Cortez waters around the Bay of La Paz and were originally referred to as "Mar
Bermejo" because of their endless changes of shades ranging from blue to a deep scarlet. In this
journey, Corts arrived in the Bay of La Paz to which he named as "Port and Santa Cruz Valley".
