That They Might All Be One 9
• JAMES 3.15,16 “THIS WISDOM DESCENDETH NOT
FROM ABOVE, BUT IS EARTHLY, SENSUAL,
DEVILISH. FOR WHERE ENVYING AND STRIFE IS ,
THERE IS CONFUSION AND EVERY EVIL WORK.
• WE ARE STILL IN THE AREA OF BODY
RELATIONSHIPS AS IT RELATES TO THE CHURCH IN
HER DESTINY AND PURPOSE
• WE HAVE MINISTERED ON EARTHLY, SENSUAL
AND THIS WEEK WE ARE GOING TO MINISTER ON
THE DEVILISH OR DESTRUCTIVE.

Logos Mythos
• Our scientifically oriented • The Greeks in their
knowledge seeks to master explanation of man also had
reality, explain it, and bring what was known as myth,
it under the control of or that which can’t be
reason.

• We have been forced into myth was not some

to answer questions in the fabricated story which had

and in the area of inexplicable nature of a
epistemology. thing or happening.

Logos Mythos
• Pragmatic way of making it • The culture would embrace
possible for people to make this myth and begin to
sense of everyday life. devote themselves by
action so as to be changed
• However this logos could by the truth of it.
not explain the miraculous, • It became that the only way
or the feelings of a man. In to assess the value or truth
fact this line of thinking was of any myth was to act upon
what incited Freud and it. It wasn’t a matter of just
Jung to begin their believing but in fact
scientific search of the soul required action.
That They Might All Be One 9
• In these circumstances logos and myth were
separate yet inseparable. The New Testament
was translated into Greek and the imagery of this
line of thinking was integrated into the very fabric
of society.
• We have the written word and we have that
which we can’t explain but are forced into an
assent that we “ believe” in it.
• We call mythos in our lingutistics “ the
supernatural”.
That They Might All Be One 9
• Modern man has come to a place where it is a
contest of who can “know” the most. This
knowing however is and has been subjected
to “logos” or reason. As we began to embrace
the criteria of that which is only empirically,
rationally and historically verifiable becomes
real we have become numb to the effect or
the expectation of the supernatural.
That They Might All Be One 9
• It is imperative that this generation understand that to
be a believer is not only to accept the doctrine or the
word of God but in fact to expect the supernatural
verification that what they have believed can’t be
explained but nonetheless creates the reality of their
lives.
• Our generation has been forced into this intellectual
arena of reason to the exclusion of the supernatural.
We don’t expect anything, yet keep on trying to live
right and keep our heads above water. It is impossible
without the mystical nature of the supernatural
manifestation of God.
That They Might All Be One 9
• We don’t have to repeat the past, we can learn
from the admonition of the scripture. The Word
of God prophesies of this generation in 2 Timothy
3. 1,5,7 “ This know also, that in the last days
perilous times shall come.”
• “Having a form of godliness, but denying the
power thereof: from such turn away.”
• “Ever learning, and never able to come to the
knowledge of the truth.”
That They Might All Be One 9
• You were never intended to just embrace an
orthodox faith that required allegiance without
the understanding, not necessarily explicable
power of the God that you serve.
• The quest for this missing link has opened the
door for the enemy to become “ an angel of
light” and offer spiritual reality to people. Our
knowledge is exhausted, so we keep just trying to
explain this and that and why we are in the shape
we are in, but in truth it is because we have quit
believing in the supernatural God that we serve.
That They Might All Be One 9
• Our emptiness has left us open to the deceitfulness of
the enemy. Much of the “authority” used and the
“unknown” of our generation is demonic in origin.
• Demonic is not defined by demon possession but by
“being subjected to demonic influence”
• Once we are born again, an awakening occurs in our
spirit that knows there is a part of this program that
can’t be explained but must be experienced to make it
real.
• However we can’t manufacture this on our own, it is
the natural by product of the christian life.
That They Might All Be One 9
• Once you have experienced this reality,
nothing else will do. We will be as Saul, who
was soothed and comforted by an
environment familiar to us (David playing for
him 1 Sam 19.9), or eventually seek the
unknown from another source as he did, (
seeking a “familiar spirit” like the woman of
Endor)
That They Might All Be One 9
• Matthew 12.43‐45 “ When the unclean spirit is
gone out of a man, he walketh through dry
places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he
saith, I will return into my house from whence I
came out; and when he is come, he findeth it
empty, swept and garnished. Then goeth he, and
taketh with himself seven other spirits more
wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell
there: and the last state of that man is worse
than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this
wicked generation.”
That They Might All Be One 9
• The Church has been delivered, I believe that I
have failed to insure that they are not empty.
• When the Church becomes stagnant or orthodox
then these spirits begin to arise and seek.
• Make no mistake, we are under attack, I am
under attack
• We have put people in a vulnerable position.
There are characteristics that put you at risk
when going thru these times.
That They Might All Be One 9
• WHEN AUTHORITY FAILS BY WAY OF APATHY,
REBELLION OR DISOBEDIENCE, THESE SPIRITS ARISE
AND THOSE WHO ARE VULNERABLE ARE EXTREMELY
AT RISK….
• WHETHER IN YOUR HOME OR IN THE CHURCH OR ANY
GOD ORDAINED AUTHORITY IS IN PLACE.
• IF YOU HAVE BEEN OR ARE CURRENTLY PLAGUED BY
REJECTION, INSECURITY, FEAR OF FAILURE, AMBITIOUS
OR FEAR MAN YOU ARE AT RISK DURING THESE TIMES
OF PUTTING YOURSELF ON THE DESTRUCTIVE SIDE OF
THE GOSPEL AND OPERATING IN THE “DEVILISH” OR
“DEMONIC” REALM.
That They Might All Be One 9
• Case Study (2 Samuel 13‐19) David and Absalom
• David was God’s Man
• David was out of position (2 Samuel 11,12 )
• David didn’t handle the death of Amnon correctly
• David didn’t deal with Absalom correctly, Absalom position
was changed by David
• Absalom pursued the natural course for position out of
place, he tried to supplant it.
• Ahithophel was not the mentor nor advisor, but a trap to
destroy Absalom
• Absalom lost his life, David lived on and overcame but at
what price ?
