The Gift of the Holy Spirit

(Acts 1:28 and 2:14)

Jesus visited with His disciples during the first forty days after
His resurrection and taught them more about the kingdom of
God.
Before Jesus returned to heaven, He told them to wait together
in Jerusalem to be baptized with His Holy Spirit.
He promised the disciples that with the gift of the Holy Spirit
they would receive great power to witness about Him to people
all over the world.
Fifty days after Jesus resurrection, on the day of Pentecost,
Jesus followers were waiting together in one place as Jesus had
asked them to. Suddenly, there was a sound like a mighty wind
that filled the house where they were gathered. There appeared
what looked like tongues of fire that settled over each one of
them, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to
speak in other languages that His Spirit spoke through them.
