Reiki Healing

Rei is a Japanese word that means “higher power” or “God’s Wisdom” and Ki
denotes “life force energy” combine the word Reiki which is a form Japanese
healing and stress cutback system. Practitioners claim that Reiki is capable
of miraculously healing the body’s spirit, mind, and emotions through utmost
relaxation. However, though Reiki is spiritual-based, it does not favor a
specific religion or it is not a religion in itself. Nor does it require one to
embrace an exact belief consistent to practitioners, and in fact, there is no
need for anyone to believe in anything. And since the principle of Reiki has
its source from God, it transcends all religion and sect and would actually
make the whole Reiki experience a strengthening of one’s faith and
conviction in the Almighty, although teaching Reiki to the Christian world has
met various hurdles. Dr. Mikao Usui, Reiki system of natural
healing founder advocates the putting into practice of the basic human
ethical acts like advancing peace and harmony, which is actually common to
all denominations.

Learning the Reiki Reiki technique is actually a unique experience in itself

because instead of being taught the normal classroom way, the ability is
being handed down or passed on to the student by the Reiki master in an
“attunement” session and in that event, the student is allowed to draw from
the life force energy to enhance one’s quality of life. What makes the Reiki
healing system distinct from the other types of healing is that it necessitates
the active participation of the client. The choice to get better and improve
one’s health and its acceptance is a vital component of the Reiki healing
procedure.

There are three degrees of Reiki forms which are:

• First degree – a Reiki practitioner in the first degree has the ability
to heal him/herself and other individuals
• Second degree – has the ability to heal individuals even if they are
not in the same location as the practitioner. It is sometimes called
distant healing.
• Master/Teacher degree – has the ability of the first two degrees
and can teach and standardize others who would want to achieve any
degree of the Reiki healing system

Hawayo Takata expanded the original Japanese Reiki healing system and
was able to develop the Western Reiki system, where the healing of illnesses
is the primary goal and emphasis. The system was first utilized in Hawaii,
and eventually it reached California, and the rest was North American
history. Takata saw to it that Reiki principles match general western culture,
hence the Western Reiki system was developed. However, there are still a
number of diminutive groups that still stick to the traditional Japanese
scheme.
