Northland Youth Coalition Mini Grants

Deadline: April 26, 2010

Funding Dates: through June 30, 2010

NYC Mini-Grants: The Northland Youth Coalition are pleased to announce the
opportunity to request for proposals for mini-grants from $100 - $300 each for regional
youth programs. (When we say “mini,” we mean “mini”!) The Mini-Grant Program has
been developed to recognize, fund and celebrate creative small-scale projects or
program enhancements that will occur before June 30, 2010 at individual school-age
sites. These mini grants reflect the Coalition’s commitment to supporting
Northeastern Arizona school-age afterschool providers in their effort to improve the
quality of their programs.

We know that school age child care and youth program providers can make a little go
a long way. The Coalition wants to directly impact the quality of program that YOU
can offer. Is there something you have always wanted to do at your site, but your
program just doesn’t have the extra cash? Is there some kind of equipment that you
know would make a great difference in how children spend the day with you? These
are the kinds of projects we are looking to fund.
Award Amounts: Mini-Grant awards will not exceed $300, and the expected range of
funding is between $100 - $300.
Who may apply: All applicants in Apache and Navajo counties that work in a program
that serves 1st through 8th grade school children in the out-of-school time hours are
eligible. We expect applicants to be working directly at school-age sites and to
creatively address a particular need or want at their site. No more than one project
per site will be funded.

Timeline: Completed applications must be received by 11:59 pm on Monday, April

26, 2010. Funded projects will be announced the beginning of May. Projects should
be completed by June 30, 2010. Final Reports and accounting will be due to the
Coalition by July 30, 2010.

Evaluation criteria: The following criteria will be used to evaluate Mini Grant
applications based on a 4 point rubric:
• Creativity and Uniqueness of Idea
• Ability to complete the project
• Impact on the children
• Impact on the quality of the program
