Information for Authors
The Bulletin of the Brazilian Mathematical Society is published four times a year. It
contains papers in all areas of Mathematics. Selected expository surveys may also
be published.
Legal Requirements. The author(s) guarantee(s) that the manuscript will not be
published elsewhere in any language without the consent of the copyright owners,
that the rights of third parties will not be violated, and that the publisher will not be
held legally responsible should there be any claims for compensation.

Authors wishing to include figures or text passages that have already been published
elsewhere are required to obtain permission from the copyright owner(s) and to include evidence that such permission has been granted when submitting their papers.
Any material received without such evidence will be assumed to originate from the
authors.
Manuscripts must be accompanied by the Copyright Transfer Statement. The form
can be obtained from springer.com/574.
Submission of Papers. Papers should be submitted only in electronic format (PS or
PDF), and should be emailed to the Chief Editor, Jacob Palis, e-mail: bulletin@impa.br
or to any member of the Editorial Board. It should be written preferably in English or
French.

Footnotes, Pictures and Tables. Footnotes should be avoided; if present, they


should be numbered. Figures and Tables should also be numbered and they must
be referred to in the paper by their number. The final art for camera ready proof of
the pictures must be provided by the author, preferably in electronic format.

Abstract, Keywords and Subject Classification. The inclusion of an abstract is


required. It should come at the beginning of the manuscript and should be 50-100
words long. The list of keywords should follow the abstract. Papers in French should
also include abstract and keywords in English. Also, the manuscript should contain
the Mathematics Subject Classification (MSC). For detailed information on MSC visit
www.ams.org/msc.

References. The list of references must be in alphabetic-chronological order; abbreviations of names of journals and references to books should follow the standard form
established by Mathematical Reviews. The following is a typical example:
[Po] Poincar, H. Sur une classe nouvelle de transcendantes uniformes. J. de Math. 4e Sr.
6 (1890), 313365.

Proofs and Reprints. Proofs will be sent to the author in charge of the contact in

Adobe Acrobat format (PDF). Fifty reprints will be provided, free of charge, to the
authors. If additional reprints are required, send an e-mail to bulletin@impa.br, as
soon as your paper has been accepted for publication, so that additional reprints may
be purchased.

Submission of Manuscripts. Manuscripts of the papers accepted for publication


should be submitted electronically to the Bulletin after incorporating all revisions. An
electronic file of the paper, in a postscript (PS) or an Adobe Acrobat (PDF), must
also be supplied. Illustrations must be provided either in postcript or encapsulated
postscript (EPS) format. Grayscale or color images should be provided in tiff format
(TIF). The manuscript version of the paper should be prepared using some TEX or
LATEX, including AMS-TEX and AMS-LATEX. The electronic files should be emailed as
an attachment to bulletin@impa.br
