Vicious Killing

The halls that were usually marked with lambent candles, sweet
incense and camaraderie voices were void of merriment but full of
gloominess, since overrun by sages. In place of the lights and glorious
laughter, shadowed the echoing wind, thick pallid cobwebs and dust.
The bright festive ribbons that usually decorated the halls and pillars
inside the castle had been torn down, burned and replaced with fear. In
the commodious feasting hall where the table was often set with
spotless dishes and silverware lay a heap of shattered glass. The oak
table had been stripped bare from the brilliant and festive table cloth
and like the ribbons, destroyed. On the end of the long, wooden table
beneath the window, sat a tall, pale figure, his feet crossed upon the
table. His dark hair lay smooth against his neck and over his broad and
strong shoulders. Darkness folded his hands softly against the back of
his head. He’d already rummaged through the king’ s wardrobe and
dressed himself in a sleek, maroon, long-sleeved waistcoat with only
the top buttoned and the rest baring the lines across his contoured
stomach. Beneath the folded cuffs of his waistcoat, long pasty fingers
stuck out against the maroon sleeves. His black breeches fell to his
knees just above his shoes. The king had an outstanding wardrobe, but
it was his no longer. Now it belonged to a soulless sage, and of course,
the other two who now thrived within the stone walls of the castle.
Darkness pushed back against the table ledge so two of the chair legs
tilted off the floor. He looked up at the grand ceiling. Far above him,
Snake sat on the frame of the embellished window.
A faint gasp filled the air and Darkness straightened in his chair
to see a short, stumpy maid frightened by his appearance.
“Wuat did ya’ do to the silverware,” she gasped. “So you are the
one walkin’ aroun’ destroyin’ the rooms and castle decorations? I tell
ya’ every day, and I don’ think you get it through ya’ heads. You are
not to put ya’ feet on the damn table, how many times do I have to tell
ya’ guards?” She reached forward and brushed Darkness's feet off the
table. His heels hit the floor sending a loud echo in the dining hall. This
startled the maid, and Snake glanced down at them.
She turned to see an eerie, green-haired man dressed in Hellcat
uniform. He had fallen from the window up above, and without effort,
had landed in a menacing stance. In his hand were shards of glass
from the silverware. She backed away from Darkness as he rose in
anger that she’d pushed his feet from the table. Darkness lifted the
heavy table effortlessly. Instantly she knew that neither of the men
were human or safe.
The table tilted slowly before a loud “creeek” echoed from its
boards. It fell, smashing into the castle’s stone wall, creating a loud
vibration. He opened his mouth and a black liquid, followed by dark
vines fell from his pale lips and They slithered across the tan tiles, like
snakes towards the frightened maid.
"Wwwhat are you," she screamed as she backed up, trying to
find an escape from the horror.
Pain shot through her body as the vines enclosed her and when
she looked up, the other sage stood behind her.
“Do not dare take all the fun for yourself!” Snake said as he
watched the maid collapse on her knees, while the dark veins
restrained her.
She couldn’t move, she couldn’t fight but only look up helplessly
into the eyes of her attackers. Somehow she found and eerie
enticement in the eyes of Snake. She stared into them as if she could
see another world in his pupils.
Snake closed his eyes, repulsed by the sight of the squirming
human. She looked up to see something long slither inside his arm but
he moved it before she was able to glance at whatever stirred inside
him. He hovered over her and opened his mouth.
Two sets of sharp, white, teeth including two large fangs, gleamed
down at her. In place of a pink, human tongue was a green snake
tongue. She gasped. A smell of acid filled the air as he bent closer. Out
of his mouth dropped a green liquid that hit the very edge of her nose,
eating away the flesh on her nose until the bone was visible. She
screamed violently but Darkness didn’t mind. Snake released more
venom onto the struggling human. The sages chuckled in spite of the
suffering the venom caused her. Little by little the venom ate the skin
away from her face until nothing remained but a bare skull. Darkness
opened his mouth, taking back the dark vines. The maid’s lifeless body
collapsed on the floor.
