Maharashtra Government to use hologram

technique to check spurious liquor


On 18 April 2016 the Maharashtra Government decided to use
hologram technique on every alcohol bottle manufactured and sold in
the state.
To check sale of spurious liquor, the Maharashtra Government has
decided to make it mandatory to have a hologram on every alcohol
bottle.

The Government decided to paste "polyester base track and trace"


hologram on every alcohol bottle. It will be supported by a mobile app,
which will help consumers find out whether the liquor is fake or
genuine.

This technique will help prevent loss of revenue due to cheap liquor
being imported into Maharashtra.
The decision was taken keeping in mind the last years tragedy at
Malwani where about 100 people died after consuming spurious
liquor.

14th meeting of Foreign Ministers held in

Moscow
On 18 April 2016 the 14th meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the
Russian Federation, the Republic of India and the People's Republic of
China was held in Moscow.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Union Minister of Foreign
Affairs of the Republic of India Sushma Swaraj, and Minister of
Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Wang Yi took part in
the meeting.
The Ministers discussed various aspects of trilateral cooperation on
global and regional issues.
They focused on stepping up efforts to combat international terrorism
and the global drug threat.

They also discussed on creating a new security and cooperation
architecture in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Ministers decided to hold the next trilateral meeting in India.

Commemorative Coin and Circulation Coin on


Tatya Tope
On 18 April 2016 Union Minister for Culture and Tourism and
Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma released a Commemorative Coin
of 200 rupees and a Circulation Coin of 10 rupees.
Union Government released coin to mark the Martyrdom Day of
Tatya Tope.

Infosys co-founder launched app Itihaasa


On 17 April 2016 Infosys co-founder S Gopalakrishnan
launched a new app named Itihaasa that chronicles Indian IT
journey since the 1950s.
The app 'itihaasa' is one of the largest chronicle with 600
videos featuring 44 technology stalwarts.
Through the app users can personalise stories on six
dimensions that is;

Maharashtra government banned digging of bore


wells beyond 200 ft
On 18 April 2016 Maharashtra government decided to restrict
digging of borewells beyond 200 feet.
The action was taken to check the steep decline in ground
water level in the state.
This decision was taken in the wake for severe water crisis and
droughts across various regions in the state.

The ban will be implemented under the Maharashtra


Groundwater Development and Management Act in order to
control the excess water pumping through borewell.

The violators of the rule would face fine or even imprisonment,


as the action will be considered as a punishable offence.

India signs MoU with Mauritius to cooperate in


Traditional Medicine and Homoeopathy
On 19 April 2016 India signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with Mauritius to promote cooperation in
traditional medicine and homeopathy.
The MoU envisages exchange of experts, supply of traditional
medicinal substances, joint research and development and
recognition of the traditional systems of health and medicine in
both countries.

It also aims at promotion and popularization of the various


Indian traditional systems which fall under AYUSH (Ayurveda,
Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa Rigpa &
